Some people who use YouTube on their iPhones and iPads have said that the app keeps crashing when they open it.
This problem is only with the iOS client, so the service as a whole is not down. However, not all users are affected. Several devices running version 17.46.4 that we checked are fine right now. There isn’t a new update to the app that would cause this.
At the same time, there are reports that the Apple TV client and YouTube Music crash similarly.
People who are affected (and there are many reports of this on social media), when they open the app, it crashes and closes after a few seconds. The problem is not fixed by force-closing and relaunching.
Google said on Twitter after 11 a.m. PT that it is “aware that many of you using the YouTube app on iOS devices may be experiencing crashes.” YouTube said it was sorry and “started working on a fix.” It said it would keep people up to date.
iPhone users affected by the bug that caused YouTube to crash can still use the mobile web client.
