The event, which presents the original theatrical cut of the film accompanied by a live orchestral performance of Hans Zimmer’s Academy Award-nominated score, has confirmed major dates for both the United Kingdom and Australia.
This “Live in Concert” format is the “new version” currently generating buzz among cinephiles. While the narrative content remains unchanged from the original release, the presentation replaces the pre-recorded soundtrack with a 65-piece ensemble. For the London performances, the score will be handled by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, bringing the film’s distinctive, pipe-organ-heavy soundscape into a massive arena setting.
The tour is scheduled to hit Australia in March 2027, with performances planned for the Sydney Opera House, Melbourne, and Adelaide. Following the Australian leg, the production will move to the United Kingdom. Two specific performances are currently scheduled for May 23, 2027, at The O2 in London, offering both matinee and evening options for attendees.
To ensure musical authenticity, the 2027 tour will feature Roger Sayer as the solo organist. Sayer was the original organist for the 2014 soundtrack recording at Temple Church in London and worked closely with Zimmer to develop the film’s signature sound. His involvement provides a direct link to the original production, ensuring that the live pipe organ—the “heartbeat” of the film’s score—matches the intensity of the studio recording.
Ticket Sales and Availability
For those looking to attend the London shows, the ticketing window has officially opened. An O2 Priority presale began today, September 9, 2026. This will be followed by the general ticket release, which is scheduled to go live on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM BST.
Information regarding the Australian dates and other global stops on the Interstellar Live tour is being managed through regional venues, with the Sydney Opera House and other major Australian hubs expected to follow similar ticketing timelines.
This tour follows the success of the 10th-anniversary IMAX re-release that took place in 2024. While that re-release focused on the technical visual prowess of Nolan’s 70mm filmmaking, the 2027 tour shifts the focus to the auditory experience.
