According to the actor, Maxwell Lord will return to the DCU “more than once,” suggesting the character will serve as a recurring antagonist across multiple projects rather than a one-off threat.

Fans expecting a quick turnaround for the second season will need to wait until the DCU’s theatrical foundation is further established. James Gunn has confirmed that Creature Commandos Season 2 is scheduled to release after the theatrical debut of Superman: Man of Tomorrow.
With Superman: Man of Tomorrow currently slated for a July 9, 2027, release, the timeline places the next chapter of the animated team in the latter half of 2027 or early 2028.
