Following the massive viewership success of the thriller His & Hers, the creative team behind the series is reuniting to adapt Alice Feeney’s upcoming novel, Twist. Writer and director William Oldroyd, who steered the previous adaptation, is set to return for the new project.
The development follows a record-breaking run for His & Hers, which premiered on January 8, 2026. According to internal data regarding what was watched in the first half of 2026, the series reached 104 million views, cementing its position as the most-watched show on Netflix for the year so far. That series featured Jon Bernthal as Jack Harper and Tessa Thompson as Anna, drawing significant praise for its handling of Feeney’s signature plot reversals.

The Plot of Twist
The new adaptation centers on a flight attendant living a high-stakes double life. The protagonist manages two different households with two different husbands, a deception that remains intact until a murder shatters the arrangement. Like Feeney’s previous work, the narrative relies on psychological tension and the unraveling of complex personal secrets.
The series is being developed by Fifth Season in a collaborative effort with several major production banners. The partnership includes Jessica Chastain’s Freckle Films, Tessa Thompson’s Viva Maude, and Campout Productions. While Thompson’s production company is heavily involved in the development of Twist, it has not yet been confirmed if she or Bernthal will take on on-screen roles in the new series.
Building on the Success of His & Hers
The decision to bring back William Oldroyd as both writer and director signals a desire to maintain the creative continuity that fueled the success of His & Hers. Oldroyd’s previous work on the Feeney adaptation was credited with translating the author’s intricate prose into a format that resonated with a global streaming audience.
The production of Twist marks a continued focus on Feeney’s bibliography, which has become a staple for psychological thriller fans. As the project moves through development, the industry will be watching to see if the flight attendant’s story can match the 104-million-view benchmark set by its predecessor. Casting announcements for the lead role and the two husbands are expected to follow as pre-production progresses.
