CD PROJEKT RED released update 5.000.200 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on October 1, 2026. This update is a stability and parity hotfix designed to address technical issues across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Platform Parity and Performance
The primary focus of this update is restoring features and performance stability. For PC users on the Xbox Play Anywhere version, DLSS support has been officially restored. The update also addresses several critical technical blockers found on all current-gen platforms.
Significant technical adjustments include:
- NVIDIA HairWorks: Changes to HairWorks have been reverted to a previous stable state to resolve performance drops reported by players.
- Save System: A fix is now live for an issue where the game failed to save or load progress if the Documents folder path contained special characters.
- Classic Version: Launch compatibility has been restored for players who prefer to run the Classic (1.32) version of the game.
Visual Adjustments and Lighting
Update 5.000.200 introduces several lighting refinements, specifically targeting areas where the environment appeared darker than intended. Interior lighting has been calibrated across all platforms to ensure visibility matches artistic intent.
Environmental tweaks in Velen include:
- Updated Bloom effects.
- Adjustments to vegetation lighting for better consistency.
- Refinements to Path Tracing lighting to improve visual accuracy in the region.
Audio and Interface Fixes
The patch resolves a specific audio bug that caused voiceover volume to become significantly quieter after a player exited the pause menu. This fix ensures that dialogue remains balanced with the rest of the game’s soundscape during active gameplay.
Players can find more specific technical breakdowns of these changes through DSOGaming. The update is mandatory for online features and will download automatically on most platforms upon launching the game client.
