EA Sports College Football 27 Update 1.014 Patch Notes

EA Sports released Update 1.014 (1.014.000) for College Football 27 on October 1, 2026, introducing Ballhawk strafing and resolving several stability issues across the game’s primary modes. Available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, the patch focuses on refining player movement logic and fixing specific freezes that occurred during Road to Glory practice sessions.

Gameplay and Officiating Adjustments

The primary addition to the gameplay engine is the implementation of Ballhawk strafing, intended to give defenders more control during aerial play. Developers also addressed a specific frustration regarding quarterback mobility near the first-down marker; the update fixes an issue where quarterbacks would perform a “super dive” instead of a standard slide when attempting to protect the ball at the end of a run.

Officiating logic has also been adjusted to ensure accuracy in the red zone. The update resolves a bug where interceptions made very close to the endzone were sometimes incorrectly ruled as a Safety rather than a touchback or standard change of possession.

Road to Glory and Dynasty Mode Fixes

Players in Road to Glory will find increased stability during weekly training. According to the Insider Gaming report, two distinct freezes in the practice mode have been eliminated:

  • Selecting Goal Line plays within the Air Game practice category.
  • Selecting Special Teams plays for any player-character that is not a Quarterback.

In Dynasty mode, the logic for Coach Point distribution has been standardized. Coach Points are now awarded in multiples of five following the signing of contract extensions. This change ensures a more predictable progression path for coaches as they build their programs.

Ultimate Team and Visual Updates

Ultimate Team players received a fix for the Evolution (EVO) system. Previously, EVOs could inadvertently be applied to the first eligible player on a list regardless of the user’s choice. The system now correctly applies the upgrade to the specific player selected by the user.

The update also includes a variety of new uniform sets and technical audio improvements:

  • Air Force: F-16 and B-21 Raider themed uniforms.
  • Oregon: “Origin of Speed” uniform set.
  • Navy: 100th anniversary commemorative set.
  • PlayStation 5 Audio: A platform-specific fix addresses an issue that caused distorted crowd audio and chants during high-noise gameplay moments.
