Woodstone Mansion Guide: Every Supernatural Ability in Ghosts

In the world of the Woodstone Mansion, death is only the beginning of a spirit’s development. As the CBS series Ghosts approaches its upcoming Season 6, the roster of supernatural abilities has expanded from simple physical interactions to reality-bending travel and dream manipulation. While fans await a special two-part Halloween event on October 29, 2026, followed by the full Season 6 premiere in early 2027, the established lore of the Woodstone residents has never been more complex.

The production of Season 6 also introduces a significant shift in the household dynamic. With Samantha (Rose McIver) temporarily in Hollywood, Ben Feldman joins the cast as a series regular named Kyle. His character is tasked with “ghost-sitting,” providing a fresh perspective on the spirits’ unique—and often inconvenient—abilities.

Many ghost powers are rooted in the specific circumstances of the spirit's death or personality.

## The Core Woodstone Spirit Powers

Most spirits at Woodstone Mansion possess a “ghost power” typically rooted in the circumstances of their death or a defining personality trait from their living years.

Thorfinn (Thor): As a Viking struck by lightning, Thorfinn can manipulate electricity. This allows him to flicker lights, control modern appliances, and even influence television screens, though it requires significant focus.
Sasappis (Sass): In a major revelation during the third season, Sasappis discovered his power of dream-walking. He can enter the dreams of a sleeping “livings,” allowing him to communicate more clearly or influence their subconscious thoughts, a rare ability that bypasses the need for Samantha to act as a translator.
Isaac Higgintoot: Having died of dysentery, Isaac’s power is purely olfactory. Whenever a living person walks through him, they are hit with a foul, sulfurous “stink of death.”
Alberta Haynes: A Prohibition-era singer, Alberta can project her voice across the veil. While the living cannot see her, they can hear her as a faint, melodic hum or through electronic devices like smart speakers.
Flower: As a victim of a bear attack while under the influence of hallucinogens, Flower induces a “high” or hallucinogenic state in any living person who passes through her form.
Trevor Lefkowitz: Unlike most ghosts who pass through matter, Trevor has developed the ability of physical touch. Through extreme concentration, he can move small objects, type on keyboards, or push buttons, making him the most physically capable spirit in the house.

## Breaking the Rules: Pete’s Traveling Power

For years, the spirits believed they were strictly tethered to the Woodstone property lines. Pete Martino upended this logic in Season 3 when he discovered he could simply walk off the grounds. Known as “traveling,” this power allows Pete to explore the world beyond the mansion. However, the ability has a dangerous limitation: if he stays away from the property for too long, he begins to physically pixelate and disappear, suggesting the tether is still active, just significantly more elastic than his peers’.

## Recent Revelations and Darker Abilities

As the series progressed into Seasons 4 and 5, two major revelations added depth to the mansion’s history. Hetty Woodstone, who spent decades believing she lacked a power, finally manifested hers in the episode “St. Hetty’s Day.” Following the discovery of her Irish heritage, it was revealed that Hetty becomes fully visible and audible to the living, but only on St. Patrick’s Day.

The introduction of Patience, a feral Puritan ghost who spent centuries in the dirt under the mansion, brought a darker tone to the supernatural rules. Patience possesses the ability to make walls bleed and can write messages in blood. This power is tied to her death by bloodletting, illustrating how the trauma of a spirit’s passing often dictates the nature of their manifestation.

Other minor spirits have also displayed specific effects on the living. Elias Woodstone, Hetty’s late husband, induces extreme arousal in anyone who walks through him, a power that reflects his hedonistic lifestyle. These abilities continue to serve as the primary bridge between the two worlds of Woodstone, often complicating Samantha’s attempts to maintain a normal life in the historic home.
