Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to launch on October 23, 2026, bringing with it a significant overhaul to the DMZ extraction mode and a large-scale new environment titled Hajin. According to a deep dive from Infinity Ward, the Hajin map serves as the primary Exclusion Zone for DMZ at launch.
Hajin is set in a unique tri-border region that spans South Korea, North Korea, and Russia.
The Forward Operating Base and DMZ Progression
Modern Warfare 4 introduces a revamped progression system for DMZ centered around the Forward Operating Base (FOB). Unlike previous iterations, the FOB acts as a persistent hub where players manage their resources between deployments. Players can unlock over a dozen different stations within the FOB to upgrade their capabilities.
One of the most significant additions to this hub is the 3D Printer. This mechanic allows players to use resources scavenged during deployments to craft essential gear, such as specialized plate carriers, backpacks, and various consumables. This shift toward a crafting-focused economy is intended to give more value to the loot found throughout the Hajin Exclusion Zone.
Warzone Integration and Player Counts
While Hajin will be available for DMZ players on the October 23 launch date, it will not immediately replace the current Warzone rotation. The map is scheduled to arrive as a full Warzone Battle Royale experience starting with Season 1.
Reports indicate that the Hajin DMZ experience will support 20 squads of three players, for a total of 60 players per match.
Modern Warfare 4, including the Hajin map and the updated DMZ mode, will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Progress within the DMZ mode, including gear crafted at the FOB, is expected to integrate with the broader Modern Warfare 4 ecosystem, though specific carry-over details for Warzone Battle Royale remain to be finalized ahead of Season 1.
