World War Z (WWZ) Update 1.77 Patch Notes for PS4 and Xbox

Saber Interactive has released update 1.77 for World War Z: Aftermath, primarily integrating The Walking Dead episode into the high-difficulty Extinction mode. Available starting October 5, 2026, across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms, the patch also introduces a new Tier 3 shotgun, heavy weapon perks, and a set of gameplay mutators designed to alter combat dynamics.

The addition of The Walking Dead to Extinction mode brings the narrative content into the game’s most punishing environment, where limited resources and aggressive zombie behavior test player coordination. Alongside this content expansion, players can now access the BSG-12 Bullpup Shotgun (Tier 3) and the Gas Pipe Wrench, a new Heavy Melee weapon.

New Heavy Weapon Perks

Update 1.77 expands the utility of Heavy Weapons by adding six specific perks. These modifications allow players to specialize their heavy ordnance for better crowd control or sustained damage. Notable additions include:

  • Last Exhaust (Chainsaw): Provides specific benefits for the melee-focused heavy weapon.
  • Dragon Breath Shells (Heavy Assault Shotgun): Adds incendiary capabilities to the shotgun’s payload.

Mutators and Gameplay Changes

Five new mutators have been added to the game, providing new ways to customize Private Lobbies, Horde Mode, and Challenge modes. These modifiers significantly impact health management and ammo reserves.

  • All-In!: Exclusive to Horde mode, this mutator sets both survivor and zombie health to one, making every hit lethal.
  • Let Them Dance!: A new modifier for varied combat scenarios.
  • Sharp Shards: Alters environmental or projectile interactions.
  • Leaky Backpack: Focuses on resource management.
  • Paranoid’s Reserves: Impacts ammunition availability and player behavior.

Progression and Fixes

For players focused on customization, the update introduces new Portrait Frames with specific unlock requirements. The Mummy frame, for instance, requires players to finish off the Infector 100 times. Other new frames include the Hippocratic Oath and Sapper.

The patch also addresses a specific mechanical error where the drone was causing kill counts to double. This fix ensures that player statistics and experience gains remain accurate during sessions utilizing the Drone Master class.

According to Saber Interactive Support, the update also coincides with the release of the Valhalla Raider Weapon Skin Pack. This pack features new appearances for the Geist 17MP, ARK-103, BSG-12, Paladin LMG, and Taiga-12.
