Delicious in Dungeon Season 2 Set for October 2027 with Updated Character Designs

Netflix and Studio Trigger have provided the first significant look at the return of Delicious in Dungeon, releasing new character visuals that confirm a global premiere window of October 2027. The update arrives as production moves into the final arcs of the story, marking a three-year gap between the debut season and its upcoming conclusion.

The latest promotional material, released on October 23, 2026, focuses on the expanded cast that will drive the narrative forward. Key visuals were unveiled for Falin, Kabru, Mithrun, and the “Mad Mage” Thistle. These designs signal a transition into the more complex and darker atmosphere of the manga’s later chapters, following the party’s deeper descent into the dungeon’s mysteries.

Updating Designs for the Final Arcs

A primary focus for Season 2 is a shift in visual direction. Studio Trigger has updated the character designs to more closely align with the evolving art style used by creator Ryoko Kui in the concluding volumes of the manga. While the core aesthetic remains, several main characters have received subtle but distinct wardrobe and equipment changes to reflect their progression through the dungeon.

According to reported design sheets, Marcille’s silhouette has been adjusted by removing the outer skirt she wore over her baggy pants in the first season. Other functional changes include Chilchuck’s undershirt switching from white to black, and Laios appearing without his original knee guards. These adjustments are intended to mirror the “worn-in” look and artistic maturation seen in the source material’s final stages.

Production and Creative Team

The upcoming season will see the return of the core creative team that established the series as a standout fantasy hit. Yoshihiro Miyajima is confirmed to return as director at Studio Trigger, ensuring stylistic continuity despite the three-year production cycle. The studio’s decision to wait until October 2027 for the full release suggests an intention to maintain the high animation standards set during the initial 24-episode run.

While the first season balanced culinary exploration with traditional dungeon crawling, Season 2 is expected to cover the remaining chapters of the manga. This includes the high-stakes confrontation with the dungeon’s creator and the resolution of Falin’s condition. With the character designs now finalized to match Kui’s definitive style, the production enters its final year of development ahead of its global streaming launch.
