IllFonic released update 1.021 (v1.2.1) for Halloween: The Game on October 28, 2026, targeting critical issues introduced with the Tower Farm Terror expansion. The patch primarily restores player access to the Scythe Progressive Challenge and stabilizes performance for PC users.

Scythe Challenge and Stability Fixes

The core focus of this hotfix is the restoration of the Scythe Progressive Challenge. Players who were previously unable to progress or access the challenge for the Scythe weapon—which was introduced in the preceding v1.2.0 update—can now resume their progression.

  • Scythe Progressive Challenge: Fully restored and accessible to all players.
  • General Stability: Implementation of stability fixes to address intermittent crashes across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

PC and Graphics Improvements

For players on Steam and the Epic Games Store, version 1.2.1 addresses specific hardware compatibility and navigation issues. A major fix concerns DLSS-G, which was previously causing significant frame rate drops in certain gameplay scenarios.

  • DLSS-G Fix: Resolved an issue where Frame Generation caused unexpected performance degradation.
  • Controller Navigation: Fixed a bug that prevented PC players using controllers from navigating the graphics performance settings menu.

Expansion Context

This update serves as a follow-up to the Tower Farm Terror expansion released on October 27. While version 1.2.1 focuses on technical fixes, the content from the expansion—including the Tower Farm map and the Scythe weapon—remains the current seasonal focus.

Broader gameplay balance changes, such as the adjustments to Michael and Civilian stamina or cross-play matchmaking improvements, were handled in the earlier Day 1 patch (1.008/1.009) and are not modified in this specific hotfix.
