Binance is investigating a security incident involving unauthorized outflows from its hot wallets.
Binance has stated that all user losses will be covered by its Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU) and existing company reserves.

Asset Breakdown and Recovery Efforts
The stolen assets comprise a diverse portfolio of major cryptocurrencies. Verified data indicates the haul included approximately $3.8 billion in Ethereum-based assets and 18,270 Bitcoin, valued at roughly $1.5 billion.
In the hours following the discovery of the breach, a coordinated industry-wide effort was launched to contain the movement of the stolen funds. Stablecoin issuers Tether and Circle have already frozen more than $2.3 billion in USDT and USDC associated with the hack. This rapid intervention effectively locks a substantial portion of the attackers’ proceeds, preventing them from being swapped on decentralized protocols or moved to obfuscation services.
Service Restoration and Security Response
In response to the unauthorized outflows, Binance temporarily suspended withdrawal services to secure its environment. The exchange expects to restore regular withdrawal functionality within 48 hours of the incident.
Binance’s use of the SAFU fund is intended to ensure that individual account balances remain unaffected while the exchange works with law enforcement and stablecoin issuers to recover the frozen assets.
