S-Game has released update 1.302.289 for Phantom Blade Zero, focusing on technical performance for PC players and refining combat balance. The patch, which launched on November 4, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC, introduces significant changes to shader compilation and boss mechanics.

PC Technical Optimizations and Fixes

A primary change in this update addresses the game’s startup behavior on PC. Ray tracing shaders are no longer compiled automatically during the game’s launch process. This adjustment is intended to reduce initial wait times and allow players to reach the main menu faster. Beyond startup speed, the update targets specific hardware and connectivity issues:

  • AMD Graphics Fix: Resolved a rendering glitch that caused hair to display incorrectly on AMD graphics cards when using certain drivers.
  • NVIDIA Reflex: Fixed a technical interaction where NVIDIA Reflex would fail to function correctly if set to “Auto” while V-Sync was enabled.
  • Bluetooth Connectivity: Reduced instances of stuttering linked to Bluetooth controller connections.
  • Control Customization: PC players can now remap the Interact and Talk controls for both keyboard and controller setups.

Boss Adjustments and Difficulty Tiers

The update brings a specific balance pass to the fight against Hua, Deadly Betrothed. S-Game has reduced the frequency of her grab attacks on both the Wayfarer and Pathbreaker difficulty modes. These gameplay-impact changes aim to refine the encounter’s flow for players on standard and higher challenge levels.

Audio and Feedback Settings

To provide players with more control over the combat experience, update 1.302.289 adds two new sliders to the audio settings menu. Players can now manually adjust “Hit Sound Intensity” and “Hit Impact Sound Intensity.” These options allow for the fine-tuning of auditory feedback during swordplay, letting players increase or decrease the prominence of weapon impacts based on personal preference.

According to the official Steam patch notes, these changes are part of ongoing efforts to stabilize the PC version following feedback regarding hardware compatibility and controller latency.
