Expanded Mechanics and Quality of Life Features
The latest 7 Days to Die update 1.320.001, also known as version 3.2.0, has officially arrived for PlayStation 5, PC via Steam, and Xbox. This release marks a change in how the development team handles post-launch support. A dedicated sub-team is now focusing on these smaller, more frequent updates to deliver bug fixes and cosmetic content without slowing down the primary work on version 4.0. This parallel development strategy ensures the game remains stable while major features are built in the background.
One of the most useful additions in this patch is the vehicle-horn interaction with Trader outposts. Players no longer need to dismount their vehicles to gain entry to the outer compounds. By simply honking a horn when in proximity to the gates, the outer doors will automatically open. The game now includes an onscreen message to indicate when a vehicle is close enough to interact with the doors. However, to prevent players from bypassing the intended flow of the interiors, the developers introduced the oldWoodDoorNoHonk variant. This prevents interior doors at Trader Rekt, Hugh, and Joel from responding to vehicle horns, ensuring the interior atmosphere remains intact.
Interface Redesign and Crafting Changes
The Combine Station has received a significant visual and functional overhaul. The redesigned UI now makes it much easier to see the final statistics and results of combined items. A new plus symbol appears to signify when an item has been successfully modified or upgraded. To help prevent accidental crafting, players are now required to press a specific button to confirm the combination of items, providing a necessary layer of verification before resources are used.
Gameplay balance has also seen several tweaks. Auto turrets have been adjusted to no longer provide stability support, and they can no longer be mounted directly onto walls. This change forces survivors to build dedicated platforms or structures to house their automated defenses. Additionally, the logic governing the cooking pot, cooking grill, and anvil has been updated. The item currently held by the player no longer impacts the time required to complete a crafting or cooking task, which standardizes the survival experience.
Technical Optimizations and AI Behavior
Technical performance is a priority in the 1.320.001 patch. The update introduces a way for custom Points of Interest (POIs) to be sent from servers to clients using a minimal metadata package, which helps streamline the multiplayer experience. Optimization efforts also extended to sleeper spawn visibility checks; these are now more efficient when players are located at a distance, reducing the load on system resources.
AI behavior for both hostile and passive creatures has been refined. Timid animals now have improved threat detection, making them more reactive to the player\u2019s presence. A specific fix was implemented for rabbits, which were previously moving too slowly, making them far too easy to catch. On the hostile side, screamers have been adjusted so they can no longer spawn additional screamers within their scout groups, preventing an infinite loop of reinforcements that could overwhelm a base. Other vital fixes include resolving an issue where demolition zombies failed to explode when damaged by clients and fixing a bug that prevented lower-tier items from being crafted once higher-tier versions were unlocked.
