ABC has released the official trailer for Season 10 of 9-1-1, revealing a catastrophe that brings the series back to the literal foundations of Los Angeles. The upcoming arc, titled “La-Va Land,” centers on a volcanic eruption in the middle of downtown Los Angeles.
Season 10 is scheduled to premiere on ABC on Thursday, October 15, 2026. The trailer depicts the disaster beginning with a massive sinkhole in the city center, which subsequently reveals a hidden volcano beneath the metropolitan area.
New Roles and Station 118 Dynamics
The premiere finds the 118 grappling with significant leadership changes following the events of earlier seasons. Howard “Chimney” Han has officially stepped into the role of Captain at the station. This transition follows the departure of the long-time lead, as Bobby Nash was killed off during the show’s eighth season.
The trailer also highlights a shift in career for Athena Grant. Formerly an LAPD Sergeant, Athena is now working as a Detective in Season 10. This career change is expected to alter how she interacts with the first responders, potentially allowing her to work more closely with the 118 on high-level investigative cases as the city deals with the volcanic fallout.
While the “La-Va Land” disaster draws thematic parallels to the 1997 disaster film Volcano, the premiere of Season 10 will air as part of a fall 2026 schedule that also includes the debut of the spin-off series, 9-1-1: Nashville.
