Fortnite Update 1.000.234 Patch Notes: Fortnitemares Balancing & Weapon Nerfs

Epic Games has released Fortnite update 1.000.234 on October 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. This deployment focuses on balancing adjustments for Fortnitemares seasonal weapons and specific nerfs to the Sideways Rifle within the Reload game mode.

Fortnitemares Weapon Balancing

The update introduces several adjustments to seasonal weaponry, shifting the focus toward mobility and base damage while tempering high-precision rewards.

  • Freddy’s Nightmare: This item now provides a movement speed increase and reduces stamina consumption while tactical sprinting.
  • Dual Fiend Hunters: The base damage and reload speed have been increased to improve general reliability. However, the headshot damage multiplier has been reduced.
  • Rebecca’s Guns: This weapon has received nerfs; it now deals reduced damage to structures and features a slower reload speed.

Reload Mode and Overrides

Specific changes have been made to items and mechanics within the Fortnite Reload environment to maintain competitive balance.

  • Sideways Rifle: In the Reload game mode, the power-up damage bonus for this weapon has been reduced.
  • Health Siphon Override: The amount of health restored upon activation has been increased.
  • Overshield Override: The maximum value for the Overshield has been adjusted.
  • Crash Bandicoot Sprite: This Sprite now features increased spin damage and a longer knockback distance.

Bug Fixes and Technical Improvements

Alongside gameplay balancing, update 1.000.234 addresses technical issues affecting Creative islands and NPC behavior. According to the patch notes, players should no longer encounter the “locked items” error when using a Changing Booth, which previously resulted in being kicked from islands.

The update also resolves a bug where NPC Sidekicks would appear invisible on certain developer-made islands. These fixes are intended to stabilize the experience across both battle royale and user-generated content during the October event period.
