Apple’s long-rumored pivot back into the smart home market has taken a concrete step forward with the leak of detailed images and animations for a new hardware lineup. On October 7, 2026, the leaker known as @pdfu shared high-resolution assets and 360-degree animations revealing three of seven planned accessories co-developed by Apple and LG Electronics.
While the hardware carries LG branding, the design and engineering are reportedly led by Apple. This strategy mirrors Apple’s previous collaborations, such as the LG UltraFine monitors, where Apple provides the industrial design and deep software integration while leaving manufacturing and customer support to a third-party partner. According to reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this arrangement allows Apple to rapidly populate a high-end ecosystem of accessories to support its upcoming “homeOS” platform.

The leaked assets, first detailed by 9to5Mac, showcase a smart deadbolt, a thermostat, and a temperature sensor. The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock is the most technically distinct of the trio, featuring a physical rotating keypad. This design allows for manual entry while maintaining a slim profile. Internally, the lock reportedly supports Ultra Wideband (UWB), enabling it to automatically unlock as a user approaches the door with an iPhone or Apple Watch—a feature currently limited to a handful of high-end smart locks.
The LG Smart Thermostat appears to take design cues from both the Apple Watch and high-end automotive displays. It features a “Far Sight Display” capable of showing large-format temperature and humidity data that is legible from across a room. A secondary, smaller temperature sensor was also revealed, intended for placement in individual rooms to manage climate zones more granularly.
This hardware rollout is designed to anchor a broader “smart home reboot” for 2026. Apple is widely expected to announce a new central hub at a rumored October 13 event. This device, colloquially referred to as “HomePad,” will serve as the primary interface for the new homeOS.
Technical specifications for the LG-branded accessories confirm they are built on modern industry standards. The devices fully support Matter and Thread, ensuring they can operate within broader smart home setups while offering “Pro” features exclusively to Apple users.
The full lineup of seven products is reported to include:
- LG Smart Deadbolt Lock
- LG Smart Thermostat
- Remote Temperature/Humidity Sensor
- Video Doorbell
- Three distinct security camera models
While these products are expected to be mentioned during the upcoming October event, by outsourcing the hardware manufacturing to LG, Apple avoids the logistical hurdles of producing niche appliances while ensuring the aesthetic and functional quality meets the standards of its own ecosystem.
