Will Estes Reprises Jamie Reagan Role for Boston Blue Season 2 Crossover

The Reagan family is expanding its presence in the Massachusetts capital as Will Estes officially reprises his role as Jamie Reagan in the second season of the spinoff series, Boston Blue. CBS confirmed the return with a set of first-look images released on October 19, 2026, showcasing a long-awaited reunion between the two brothers.

The upcoming episode, titled “Blood Diamonds,” is scheduled to air on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 10 p.m. ET. The story finds Jamie, now a Sergeant, traveling to Boston for a professional police conference. However, his visit quickly shifts from a fraternal catch-up to a high-stakes investigation when he becomes entangled in a diamond heist tied to a violent family feud.

A Professional and Personal Friction

The crossover promises more than just a joint investigation; it leans into the established tension between Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) and his younger brother. While the brothers have always shared a deep bond, their differing approaches to law enforcement often lead to friction. In “Blood Diamonds,” Jamie’s presence in Boston reportedly sparks internal family tensions as the two navigate the complexities of a case that involves Danny’s new partner, Detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green).

The reunion marks a significant moment for the franchise following the 2024 conclusion of the flagship series. Since the original show ended, Jamie’s life has progressed off-screen; he has continued his career as a Sergeant.

The Boston Blue Landscape

The spinoff Boston Blue was established after Danny Reagan relocated to the Boston Police Department to be closer to his son, Sean. While the role of Sean was originally played by Andrew Terraciano in the flagship series, the character was recast with Mika Amonsen for the spinoff.

Jamie is the latest member of the New York-based Reagan clan to make the trip north. During the first season of Boston Blue, the series featured guest appearances from Bridget Moynahan (Erin Reagan), Len Cariou (Henry Reagan), and Will Hochman (Joe Hill). These cameos have served to maintain the franchise’s continuity while Danny builds a new life alongside the Silver family, who act as a Boston-based narrative parallel to the Reagans.

Showrunners Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis have clarified that Jamie’s appearance in Season 2 is currently designed as a “one-off story.” While fans have speculated about the potential for more permanent reunions or appearances from other characters, such as Vanessa Ray’s Eddie Janko-Reagan, the focus for the November 6 episode remains strictly on the dynamic between the two brothers.
