Apple released the first developer beta for iOS 27.3 on November 3, 2026, marking a significant mid-cycle update that expands the reach of Apple Intelligence and introduces a major redesign for the native Health application. The update, carrying build number 24C5037i, arrived alongside synchronized beta releases for iPadOS 27.3, watchOS 27.3, and macOS 27.3, currently referred to internally as “Golden Gate.”

A primary focus of this release is the expansion of Apple Intelligence. After a two-year deployment phase, the beta officially introduces Apple Intelligence features to users in China, including generative Writing Tools and Photos editing capabilities. Additionally, Apple has launched the Siri AI Developer Preview, which provides third-party developers with the App Intents necessary to integrate their applications directly with the updated Siri AI architecture.

Safari and Health App Overhauls

Safari receives two notable interface updates in iOS 27.3. The browser now supports a Vertical Tabs layout, moving the tab switcher from the traditional grid or horizontal bar to a sidebar format similar to those found in productivity-focused desktop browsers. Apple has also introduced “Adaptive Dark Mode,” a feature that uses machine learning to apply a dark theme to websites that do not natively provide one, ensuring a consistent visual experience across the web.

The Health app has been redesigned to emphasize long-term wellness tracking. This version restores the “Longevity” tab, which now includes a “Health Age” metric. This feature analyzes various data points—including cardiovascular fitness, sleep quality, and activity levels—to provide users with a biological age estimate compared to their chronological age.

Expanded Compatibility and Regional Restrictions

While many Apple Intelligence features remain gated by hardware requirements, iOS 27.3 ports several interface features previously exclusive to the “Duo” line of iPhones to older hardware. Users with an iPhone 11 or later can now access advanced StandBy faces and “sideways Reachability,” a feature designed to improve one-handed use when the device is held in landscape orientation.

Despite the global expansion into China, Apple’s developer documentation confirms that Siri AI remains unavailable in the European Union across iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS. This continued omission is widely attributed to ongoing regulatory discussions regarding the Digital Markets Act (DMA).

For wearable users, the synchronized watchOS 27.3 update introduces “Siri Recap” and “Live Rewind.” However, these specific audio-processing features are restricted to the latest high-end hardware, specifically the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, due to the on-device processing power required for “Audio Intelligence.”

According to 9to5Mac, the beta is currently restricted to registered developers, with a public beta typically expected to follow within several weeks. As this is the first beta of the 27.3 cycle, performance and battery life may be inconsistent, and installation on primary devices is generally discouraged.
