Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Update 1.080 Patch Notes (1.8.0): New Game+, PSSR 2, Gear Upgrades and More
Ubisoft has released Assassin’s Creed Valhalla update 1.080 (Title Update 1.8.0) for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. The November 5, 2026, update, officially called The Most Requested Update, introduces the long-awaited New Game+ mode, Mithril-based gear upgrades, an expanded Rune Forge, new progression options, and PlayStation 5 Pro enhancements.
The update also adds a new Stash storage system in Ravensthorpe, the Naoe Master Assassin outfit, two achievements, and extensive weapon balancing changes. Players can now upgrade Divine-quality equipment to level 27, access more than 300 additional engravable runes, and experience increasingly difficult New Game+ playthroughs.
This marks a major return to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla following the end of its previous post-launch content cycle. Ubisoft had originally ruled out New Game+ in 2022, but the feature is now available through this free update.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Update 1.080 Patch Notes — November 5, 2026
Here are the main changes included in Title Update 1.8.0:
- Added New Game+ with progressively increasing difficulty.
- Introduced Mithril, a new resource used for advanced equipment upgrades.
- Increased the Divine gear upgrade limit from level 13 to 27.
- Made Platinum ingots and Divine-quality gear upgrades accessible without the Dawn of Ragnarök DLC.
- Added an optional Extended Progression mode.
- Introduced the Stash storage system in Ravensthorpe.
- Expanded the Rune Forge with a Superior Rune tier and more than 300 engravable runes.
- Added the free Naoe Master Assassin outfit.
- Introduced two achievements tied to New Game+ and equipment upgrades.
- Added PSSR 2 support for PlayStation 5 Pro.
- Adjusted skill bonuses, Mastery attributes, weapon damage, dual-wielding multipliers, and attack animations.
New Game+ Is Finally Available
The biggest addition in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla update 1.8.0 is New Game+, which allows players to restart Eivor’s adventure with their existing character progression carried over.
To unlock New Game+, players must complete the Holy Day quest, the final mission in the Hamtunscire region. Ubisoft has made the feature accessible at this point rather than requiring completion of every story event, allowing players to begin another playthrough before reaching the game’s final ending.
Each New Game+ playthrough becomes progressively harder. Returning players will face stronger challenges while using their previously earned equipment and character progression.
The mode also changes how certain rewards are distributed. When players collect gear or interact with a Book of Knowledge that they already own, the duplicate reward is replaced with Mithril.
Mithril is used for additional Divine gear upgrades and can also be purchased from the Niflheim, Mastery, and River Raid shops.
Wealth Chests receive another adjustment. Instead of Carbon, Nickel, or Tungsten ingots, players will obtain Platinum ingots during New Game+.
Platinum was previously associated with the Dawn of Ragnarök expansion. With this update, players can obtain the material and upgrade eligible equipment to Divine quality without owning the DLC.
Divine Gear Upgrade Limit Increased to Level 27
Title Update 1.8.0 substantially expands the game’s equipment progression system.
The maximum upgrade level for Divine-quality gear has increased from 13 to 27, adding 14 further upgrade levels for players who want to strengthen their existing equipment.
Each new upgrade requires Mithril. The resource can be obtained through duplicate rewards in New Game+ or through the supported in-game shops.
The change gives players additional progression goals beyond the original equipment limits, particularly during repeated campaign playthroughs.
Because New Game+ difficulty increases with subsequent runs, the expanded upgrade system provides additional ways to improve Eivor’s equipment for tougher encounters.
Extended Progression Mode Added
Ubisoft has introduced Extended Progression as an optional gameplay setting that changes how character Power develops.
When the mode is enabled:
- Each gear upgrade increases Power by one point.
- Runes contribute one Power point.
- Mastery progression increases Power for every five Mastery skill points.
Extended Progression makes equipment improvements and Mastery investment more important to a character’s overall Power.
The mode is entirely optional, allowing players to choose between the existing progression system and the new equipment-focused approach.
New Stash Storage System in Ravensthorpe
A new Stash has been installed in Ravensthorpe, providing a dedicated storage location for collected equipment and runes.
Players can interact with the Stash to move weapons, armor, and runes out of their active inventory.
This should be particularly useful for long-time players who have accumulated large collections of equipment across the main campaign, expansions, and additional activities.
The Stash provides a more convenient way to organize unused items while keeping them available for future equipment builds.
Rune Forge Update Adds Superior Runes and 300+ Engravable Perks
The Rune Forge has received one of the largest system updates in version 1.8.0.
A new upgrade tab allows players to improve existing runes by spending upgrade materials.
The upgrade path now includes:
- Lesser Rune to Normal Rune — costs Silver.
- Normal Rune to Greater Rune — costs Silver.
- Greater Rune to Superior Rune — requires Mithril.
Superior Runes are a newly introduced tier available through the Rune Forge upgrade system.
Ubisoft has also expanded the engraving menu with more than 300 engravable runes, including perks associated with the base game, DLC expansions, and equipment available through the Helix Store.
Once players acquire an eligible weapon or complete armor set, its corresponding perks become available for engraving.
Engraving an eligible equipment perk into a rune costs 450 Silver.
The changes provide more flexibility when combining different equipment bonuses and creating specialized combat builds.
Naoe Master Assassin Outfit and New Achievements
A new Naoe Master Assassin outfit has been added as a free reward.
Inspired by Naoe from Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the outfit provides an additional appearance option for Eivor. It is available through the update without a separate purchase.
Two new achievements are also included:
- Ivaldi’s Heir: Fully upgrade a piece of Divine gear.
- Circle of Renewal: Complete a New Game+ playthrough.
Both achievements are linked to the update’s main progression features.
PS5 Pro Gets PSSR 2 Support and Graphics Improvements
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla update 1.080 introduces PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution 2 (PSSR 2) support for PlayStation 5 Pro.
The updated image reconstruction technology is designed to improve image clarity, detail, and visual stability while exploring the game’s open-world environments.
Ubisoft has also confirmed additional graphics options.
Quality Mode is now the default setting on PS5 Pro and targets 60 FPS. A new Low Energy Mode is available on both PS5 and PS5 Pro, operating at 30 FPS.
These changes give players additional choices between visual presentation, performance, and lower-energy operation.
