Mike “Pancho” Locke, a prominent figure of the early 2000s extreme stunt television era and a founding member of MTV’s Dirty Sanchez, has died at the age of 47. His death was publicly announced on Friday, November 6, 2026, by the Welsh clothing brand San Portablo on behalf of his family.

Locke, who was born in Neath in 1979, rose to international fame as part of the four-man Dirty Sanchez crew alongside Mathew Pritchard, Lee Dainton, and Dan Joyce. The series, known for its high-impact stunts and irreverent humor, became a cult phenomenon on MTV. Locke also became a recognizable face on Channel 4’s Balls of Steel, where he performed as one of the “Pain Men.”

In a statement shared by San Portablo, the brand described Locke as an “absolute Welsh treasure” and an “all-round Goodfella.” As a mark of respect following the news, the San Portablo shop in Port Talbot remained closed on Friday. While his death has been confirmed by his family and close associates, no specific cause of death has been released to the public as of November 6.

From Stunt Pioneer to Community Advocate

Locke’s career followed a distinct path from the “shock-factor” television of his youth to becoming a key cultural advocate for his hometown. In recent years, he served as a prominent face for the San Portablo clothing label, a brand founded to support and celebrate the identity of Port Talbot following industrial decline and local redundancies. His involvement helped bridge his legacy as a television performer with his later role as a dedicated supporter of local entrepreneurship.

During his time on Dirty Sanchez, Locke was often characterized by his willingness to endure extreme physical challenges, a trait that carried over into his segments on Balls of Steel. According to reporting from Nation.Cymru, Locke was widely regarded by peers as a foundational part of the Welsh extreme sports and alternative culture scene that emerged at the turn of the millennium.

Tributes from the South Wales community and the wider entertainment industry have highlighted Locke’s transition into a respected local figure. His former castmates and colleagues have begun sharing personal reflections on his impact, both on-screen and through his more recent work in his community. His death marks the loss of a figure who defined a specific era of British reality television while remaining deeply rooted in his Welsh heritage.
