European Committee: we still await an action plan on Demirtaş from Turkey

The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, which has the task of supervising the implementation of the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, has announced that it is still waiting for Turkey to send an action plan to try the head of the ‘opposition. ‘ Democratic party. According to the statement by human rights lawyer Benan Molo, the committee called for the release of Demirtaş and the overturning of his sentences.

“His goal is to keep him in prison”.

Molo also stated in a tweet on Twitter that sentenced her to 4 years and 8 months in prison for propaganda “was intended to keep Demirtas in prison and prevent him from participating in elections “.

Interestingly, Ankara is expected to present an action plan on Demirtaş by 30 September. The committee had previously set a deadline for Turkey (until June 22), but Ankara has not presented any action plans.

Furthermore, the committee also renewed its request for Turkey to release the businessman Usman Kavala, without taking a decision or action condemning Ankara’s violation of Kavala’s rights.
