“I’ve done it before” – Can Apple stop Twitter on its phones?

A “mini-war” or preventive, apparently waged in the past few hours by the new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, against the tech giant Apple, caused a great surprise, announcing that quest last had blocked the Twitter application for the month since store “App Store”.

Can the smartphone company take that step?

It’s that easy!

We could find the answer to this question in previous tweets from Musk, who announced a few days ago that if Apple or Google banned the “blue bird”, they would be working on making a “new phone”!

His answer came after this idea was first suggested to him by Liz Wheeler (the podcaster), writing in one tweet: “If Apple and Google ban Twitter from their stores, Musk should produce his own smartphone.”

“Half of the country’s population would happily give up their intrusive iPhones and Androids,” he added. And she added: “Man makes rockets that land on Mars. It must be very easy for him to produce a small smartphone, right?”

I will definitely produce a replacement phone

To immediately receive a response from Musk, who says: “I certainly hope that does not happen, but if I have no other choice, I will definitely produce an alternative phone!”

Perhaps this is a preliminary indication of the possibility that Apple or Google will decide to ban Twitter.

I’ve done this before… but

The other sign lies in the previous steps taken by Apple in this context.

Last January (2021), it had already banned the “parler” application, considered a “home” for conservatives from the Republican Party and a haven for supporters of former US President Donald Trump.

And he justified his decision, which came at the time, days before Trump supporters stormed the famous Capitol in Washington, that the app violated Apple’s rules and promoted violence and hatred.

He also confirmed at the time that he refuses to give space in his stores to promote violent and illegal activities.

And he felt that Parler hadn’t taken adequate steps to deal with the spread of these threats, so he had no choice but to block it.

However, Apple came back and lifted this ban months later!

This means Apple has the right or can at least ban Twitter.

But the matter is not so simple with an “application” as powerful and effective as Twitter because banning it could open a large and heated legal dispute and debate in the United States and in other countries, and may even prompt Congress to intervene in tale important issue relating to “freedom of expression”.

However, the giant company can, for example, delay the release schedules of any new features, for example, that Musk might introduce on Twitter, and thus disturb the “bluebird” and further delay its expansion and development projects.

It is reported that since the controversial man took over the popular Twitter platform late last month (October), Twitter has failed in many storms.

Several large companies have temporarily suspended their ads on the platform, such as General Motors, Mondelez International, Volkswagen, and recently Apple.

This month, the company laid off half of its workforce in team communication, content management, human rights, and machine learning ethics, as well as a few manufacturing and engineering teams.
