Marvel Phase 6 Release Dates

Phase 6 of Marvel won’t start for a while, but there is still much information to keep you busy until then. The next stage of MCU movies and TV shows will start with Fantastic Four, which will show the latest version of Marvel’s First Family. There will also be two Avengers movies, so we can expect fireworks in the future of the MCU, especially since Disney CEO Bob Iger has hinted that a new group of Avengers is on the way.

We’ve compiled the complete guide to Marvel’s Phase 6 below. It includes every confirmed movie and TV show and our best guesses for what might come out in the unannounced release slots. That means there are also unconfirmed projects like Black Panther 3 and Thor 5 and rumored projects like Wonder Man that haven’t been officially announced yet. We also know what’s going on with Armor Wars, which doesn’t have a confirmed Phase yet but isn’t on the Phase 5 list.

Kevin Feige announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 that there are a significant number of upcoming entries in the Marvel Phase 6 canon. The following are the release dates that have been confirmed:

  • February 14, 2025 – Fantastic Four
  • November 7, 2025 – Untitled Marvel Movie
  • May 2, 2025 – Avengers: The Kang Dynasty
  • May 5, 2026 – Avengers: Secret Wars

There are also several TBA slots, but it still needs to be made clear how the recent delays have affected them. Two are for Fall 2024, one is for Winter 2024, one is for Winter 2025, one is for Spring 2025, one is for Summer 2025, and the last is for Summer 2025.

Fantastic Four

Bring it! The MCU’s version of Fantastic Four, which will come out in November 2024, will be the first movie in Marvel Phase 6. Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Ben Grimm (also known as “The Thing”), and Johnny Storm’s Human Torch have superpowers. They have yet to be cast, but a director has been chosen.

At D23, Feige told people about the news and named Matt Shakman in charge. Shakman, who has directed many well-known TV shows, including WandaVision, will be in charge of the camera. John Krasinski put on the stretchy shoes of Reed Richards of Earth-838 for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but it still needs to be clarified if he’ll play the main character on Earth-616 of the MCU.

Even though there were rumors, nothing new was said about Fantastic Four at D23. This means we must keep guessing which stars might be in the movie. With a grain of salt, Penn Badgley has been linked to the role of Reed Richards, and names like Saoirse Ronan and Jodie Comer have been thrown around on Reddit threads.

“All the casting stuff you see is just rumors,” Shakman told Collider, ending the talk. “We are just getting started. We have nothing to say right now, but we’ll let you know when we do.” The director also said that the movie will start shooting early in 2024.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty

If you thought that Endgame would be the last time we saw the Avengers, you were wrong. We still have to wait for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. We have much to learn about the movie’s plot and who will be in it. Jonathan Majors will play Kang again in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania. He first played Kang in the first season of Loki and will do so again in Quantum Mania. Kang will be in season 2 of Loki, D23 confirmed, and the first look at the new season was shown.

We will know which heroes he’ll fight once we find out. The new Avengers haven’t been confirmed yet, but anyone from Shang-Chi to Ironheart could be a part of them.

Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Legend of the Ten Rings, will oversee the Shang-Chi movie.

Avengers: Secret Wars

So far, only a little is known about Avengers: Secret Wars. Mark Ruffalo, who plays Hulk, has, however, said that the movie will “go out with a bang.” In the comics, the Secret Wars pitted Marvel’s strongest heroes against the universe’s most muscular bad guys, so whatever happens will be much fun.

The 2015 Secret Wars comic book storyline featured Thor, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, She-Hulk, and the Fantastic Four. There has not been any news about who will play these characters in the movie. In the comics, Kang, Doctor Doom, and Magneto were some of the bad guys who fought against the Avengers. The movie’s director has yet to be named either, but Marvel has confirmed that Cretton will be replaced by a different director after Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

And that’s not all. There are eight unknown projects coming as part of Marvel Phase 6 throughout 2024 and 2025.

Deadpool 3

The “Merc with a Mouth” will be in the MCU’s first R-rated movie, which will come out on November 8, 2024. Shawn Levy, who directed Free Guy, is in charge of Deadpool 2, and Ryan Reynolds is back as the title character, even though Deadpool was not part of the MCU before. Hugh Jackman is also coming back as Wolverine, which is very exciting.

Reynolds has said that the movie is almost ready to shoot, so it will likely be one of the Marvel movies in 2025.

Nova

There have been rumors that Marvel is working on a Nova project, but they haven’t confirmed it yet. It needs to be clarified if Nova will be a movie or a Disney Plus show. There needs to be more information about who will play Nova, but Ryan Gosling has already ruled himself out. ewNova could come after Phase 6, since that seems to be in its early stages, but since Marvel is getting more spacey, Phase 6 is a good place for Nova’s first solo project.

Shang-Chi 2

Officially, a sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is being made, and both Simu Liu and director Destin Daniel Cretton will be back. Surprisingly, the movie isn’t in Marvel’s Phase 5 lineup. That means the follow-up will come out at least Phase 6. Since the first Shang-Chi movie came out in 2021, Marvel will want to make this one quickly. We should look for Shang-Chi 2 in 2025.

Doctor Strange 3

Doctor Strange 3 hasn’t been confirmed yet. However, since the first scene after the credits of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness showed Strange meeting Clea and going through an interdimensional portal, we can probably expect to see more of the sorcerer soon. Strange has a lot to do with the multiverse, and since this part of the MCU is called the Multiverse Saga, it would make sense for his third movie to be in Phase 6.

Thor 5

Thor 5 has yet to be officially announced, but Thor: Love and Thunder sets up a sequel. For one thing, those scenes after the credits introduce Brett Goldstein’s Hercules and show that Idris Elba’s Heimdall and Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster are both in Valhalla. Then there’s Love, the daughter of Gorr, the God Butcher, who is now in Thor’s care. If there is a sequel, it will probably happen in Phase 6 of the MCU.

X-Men

The mutant team is on its way to the MCU, but they’ll need to find out when they’ll get there. In 2019, Kevin Feige hinted that we might not see the X-Men until 2025, which is also when Phase 6 is set to happen. We’ve already seen Patrick Stewart’s Professor X in the MCU in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, so seeing the rest of the X-Men in Phase 6 doesn’t seem too unlikely. Plus, Ms. Marvel brought mutants into the MCU, and Namor from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is also a mutant, so it seems like the X-Men could be coming soon.

Black Panther 3

With Shuri taking over as Black Panther and T’Challa’s son Toussaint being introduced, the story of the Black Panther is left open for more.

Letitia Wright has said that the movie could be in the works already. “I think it’s already in the works,” she said to Variety. “It’s been a great two years putting out [Wakanda Forever]. We need a little break. We need to get back together, and director Ryan Coogler needs to return to work. It’s going to take some time, but I can’t wait for you guys to see it.”

Even though nothing is set in stone yet, if Black Panther 3 is made, Marvel Phase 6 would be a surprise since Wakanda Forever just came out. But, on the other hand, some slots need to be filled, and Black Panther is a key character and franchise.

Armor Wars

The movie about James “Rhodey” Rhodes, played by Don Cheadle, seemed to be in limbo when it was left out of Marvel’s huge Phase 5 lineup. However, head writer Yassir Lester has reassured fans that the project is still going forward.

“I promise it’s still coming out,” he wrote on Instagram. Then, Armor Wars is likely to come out in Phase 6, after Ironheart comes out in Phase 5. Both shows are likely to be about Tony Stark’s legacy.

Cheadle was at D23 to give a short preview of an upcoming project where Stark technology will end up in the wrong hands. We also found out that the movie will pick up right after what happens to Rhodey in Secret Invasion. When that comes out in spring 2023, we should know more about what to expect.

Wonder Man

Marvel hasn’t said anything about Wonder Man, but if you believe the trades, it’s almost certain to happen. In the comics, Wonder Man is Simon Williams, the son of a failed industrialist like Tony Stark, whom Baron Zemo once gave superpowers. Williams worked as an actor and stuntman in Hollywood after he joined the Avengers.

Variety says that Wonder Man will be a “Hollywood satire.” Sir Ben Kingsley will play ‘the toast of Croydon’ Trevor Slattery again in the Disney Plus series. Strangely, Nathan Fillion played a role in a scene that didn’t make it into Guardians of the Galaxy 2, but Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is said to be playing Wonder Man in this project.

A few other projects that have yet to be announced but could be part of Phase 6 could also happen. Moon Knight season 2, Hawkeye season 2, a third season of Loki, and even a spin-off about the Scarlet Witch could all be possibilities, but we’ll have to wait and see which of our hopes actually comes true.
