More than 3,000 canceled flights in America due to a snow storm

American airlines have canceled more than 3,000 flights since yesterday due to a snowstorm that hit the east coast of the United States.

Flight cancellations coincide with four states declaring a state of emergency due to the blizzard last weekend.

The airlines have also issued a travel warning that allows customers affected by the weather to rebook their flights for free.

Nearly 74 million people received unstable weather warnings Saturday night, according to the National Weather Service.

More than 200,000 customers were without electricity in the eastern United States Monday morning after the storm hit thearea, triggering numerous tornadoes in Florida.

The storm, which brought snow to the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest over the weekend, appeared to have resulted in thousands of flight cancellations between Sunday and Monday.

In North Carolina, the Department of Transportation asked Tar Hill residents to stay indoors and away from flooded roads and snow on Monday.

North Carolina emergency management officials said the snow made driving especially treacherous near the border.
