With the support of an American raid, the Somali army kills dozens of “Al-Shabaab” militants

Somali TV reported that military officials in Somalia said Thursday that they had killed dozens of Al-Shabab militants in the Hiran area with help from a US air strike.

At least 100 people were killed when two explosions happened at the same time in Mogadishu’s city, the Ministry of Education. They were taken over by Al-Shabab last week.

In a statement released early Sunday morning, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said that two car bombs went off in front of the Ministry of Education building in the city, Mogadishu, on Saturday, killing 100 people and hurting 300 more.

The first car blew up near a busy intersection in Mogadishu, near the Ministry of Education. The second car blew up as ambulances came and people gathered to help the victims.

The shock waves from the two blasts were so strong that they broke windows nearby. The street in front of the building was covered in the blood of the people who died in the blast.

It happened in the same spot as Somalia’s biggest attack that same month.

More than 500 people were killed when a truck bomb went off in front of a busy hotel at an intersection with government buildings, bars, and kiosks all around it.
