Hints
Connections: Sports Edition likes to start out friendly and then casually lob you a curveball. Today’s four groups cover everything from how fans watch games to the anatomy of a baseball glove, with one category that’s very “name that player.”
If you want a guided path, here are spoiler-friendly clues for each color, in the order you’d normally see them get solved.
Yellow group (easiest): Think about the ways you can take in live sports—more than just being in the stadium.
Green group: This one points to specific parts of a baseball glove—pieces you can describe even if you’ve never been a real glove person.
Blue group: Hoops fans will recognize this immediately: it’s tied to Victor Wembanyama, so expect a set of words associated with him.
Purple group (toughest/bizarre): “Wolf” energy. The trick is that the teams share a nickname family, but you’ll need both the wolf and the plural wolf version to make it click.
If you’re using Connections solving help today, the fastest approach is to group by meaning first (watching vs. glove parts vs. team nicknames), then confirm with the oddball-sounding category.
Answers
Yellow: in person, radio, streaming, television
Green: fingers, heel, pocket, webbing
Blue: France, Spurs, The Alien, Victor Wembanyama
Purple: NC State, Nevada, Timberwolves, Wolves
Once the purple category snaps into place, it’s one of those “of course” moments—wolf nicknames are quirky in a way that makes the Connections structure feel almost tailored for them. If you got stuck on the blue group, you weren’t alone: when a category is built around a single star, the puzzle is essentially testing name recognition as much as word association.
