Palworld update 1.102.642 is now live across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. This update introduces two major sub-missions and a suite of technical optimizations designed to improve stability on older console hardware and high-end PC setups.
New Sub-Missions and Progression
The update expands the late-game experience with the addition of two sub-missions: Beyond Dimensions and From the Far Side of the Moon. These missions provide new objectives for players navigating the Sakurajima and World Tree regions.
- Beyond Dimensions: This mission is initiated by speaking with a specific NPC located at Fisherman’s Point in the Mount Obsidian region.
- From the Far Side of the Moon: This mission follows a sequential progression path, requiring players to complete specific prior objectives before it becomes available.
Pocketpair has also adjusted the “Pal Critic” requirements to better align with recent Pal additions. In the Sakurajima region, the requirement has shifted from Selyne to Dogen. In Sunreach, players are now required to present Faleris Aqua instead of Bastigor.
Gameplay and Quality of Life Changes
Several adjustments have been made to facility management and server administration. A significant change to production facilities ensures that materials returned when canceling work now go directly into the player’s inventory. This prevents resource loss or clutter around the base when production orders are interrupted.
For multiplayer environments, server administrators now have access to a new setting that allows building limits to be set on a per-player basis. This provides better control over server resources and prevents individual players from exceeding fair construction limits.
On the technical side for PC players, the default FPS cap is now set to 120. While users can still adjust these settings, the new default aims to provide a smoother standard experience for high-refresh-rate monitors.
Technical Fixes and Performance
The 1.102.642 update addresses a critical progression blocker involving the World Tree Guardian. Previously, an issue existed where the Guardian would fail to appear if the boss Panthalus was defeated prematurely. This has been resolved, allowing players to progress through the main mission normally.
Performance optimizations in this patch are categorized by platform to address specific hardware limitations:
- Xbox One: Developers have implemented a general reduction in memory usage to improve stability and reduce crashes on the older console generation.
- PlayStation 5: Specific memory optimizations have been applied to Co-op play, addressing performance dips during multi-player sessions.
These changes collectively target the most frequent technical complaints in the Sakurajima and World Tree areas, ensuring that both solo and cooperative play are more stable across all supported platforms.
