Rebel Wolves has moved immediately to capitalize on the commercial debut of its flagship title. Following the release of The Blood of Dawnwalker on September 3, 2026, the studio confirmed the dark fantasy RPG surpassed one million copies sold across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S within its first three days on the market.
The rapid sales pace has coincided with concrete moves to expand the franchise. On September 8, less than a week after launch, the studio posted a job listing for a Lead Writer tasked specifically with crafting the “next chapter in the Dawnwalker saga.” This recruitment drive suggests the studio is fast-tracking the series following its “platinum” opening weekend.

The Dawnwalker Saga Strategy
The search for a new narrative lead is being overseen by Narrative Director Jakub SzamaĆek. According to Insider Gaming, this hiring move signals that the next installment has already entered active development. While The Blood of Dawnwalker is rooted in a 14th-century setting, the “Dawnwalker Saga” is designed as an anthology of standalone games that explore different cultures and historical eras.
Game Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz has previously clarified that while these installments exist within a shared universe, each is intended to function as a complete experience. This structure allows Rebel Wolves to transition the series across centuries; early promotional teasers have already hinted at future chapters moving away from the medieval period, including glimpses of a potential modern-day setting.
Critical reception has largely aligned with the game’s commercial performance. The Blood of Dawnwalker currently maintains an average score of 83 on Metacritic and 84 on OpenCritic. Players and critics have noted how the title distinguishes itself in a crowded RPG market. The project serves as the debut release for the studio, which was founded by veterans of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and operates in partnership with Bandai Namco Entertainment.
With the next chapter now in pre-production, the focus shifts to how the studio will bridge the narrative gap between the medieval journey and the broader timeline teased in the “Glimpse into the Future” promotional materials. The hiring of a Lead Writer at this stage indicates the studio is prioritizing the story architecture for what is being positioned as a multi-era franchise.
