CD Projekt Red has announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered will launch on September 29, 2026, bringing a suite of technical overhauls and a unique nod to the game’s community history. Among the modernizations is a dedicated “Legacy Roach” toggle, a feature designed to officially preserve the horse’s famously erratic behavior that became a staple of the original 2015 experience.
While the remaster updates Roach’s movement physics to be more fluid and reliable, the optional toggle allows players to revert to the horse’s classic programming. This includes her tendency to appear on rooftops, clip through scenery, or perform gravity-defying maneuvers. CD Projekt Red Level Design Lead Miles Tost confirmed the inclusion of the toggle, framing it as a way to honor the memes and fan-favorite glitches that defined the community’s relationship with the game.

The The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered will be available as a free upgrade for existing owners on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. On the same day, the game will see a native launch on the Nintendo Switch 2, marking the title’s debut on Nintendo’s next-generation hardware.
Beyond horse physics, the 2026 version introduces significant gameplay changes that go beyond the 2022 “next-gen” update. These include a comprehensive skill tree revamp and a long-requested transmogrification system, allowing players to customize Geralt’s appearance without sacrificing armor statistics. The remaster also marks the first time the title will be available via Blizzard’s Battle.net launcher on PC.
Looking past the immediate release, CD Projekt Red and partner studio Fool’s Theory have confirmed that new content is still in development for the decade-old RPG. A third major expansion, titled “Songs of the Past,” is scheduled for release in 2027.
