Meta has introduced a comprehensive expansion of its subscription offerings, transitioning toward a modular ecosystem that targets high-frequency creators, AI enthusiasts, and enterprise businesses. While the company’s core social platforms and basic Meta AI features will remain free to the public, the new tiers introduce a “compute-tax” model for users who require advanced creative tools and enhanced business functionality.
Meta reported that it has already secured 15 million sign-ups and trials across these new tiers at the time of the rollout. The pricing structure is divided into three primary categories: individual “Plus” plans for specific apps, “Power User” bundles for AI-heavy workflows, and a four-tier “Professional” track for businesses.

AI Power User Tiers
For creators and individual users focused on generative media, Meta has launched the Core and Premium bundles. These plans are designed to handle high-compute tasks, particularly video and image generation.
The Core plan is priced at $7.99 per month, while the Premium tier costs $19.99 per month. Both levels provide expanded access to media generation powered by Meta’s Muse models. This includes the “Restyle” tool on Instagram, which allows users to apply complex visual transformations to existing content through AI. The distinction between the two tiers largely centers on the volume of high-resolution video generations permitted per billing cycle.
Business and Professional Tiers
The most significant shift in Meta’s subscription model is the introduction of a four-stage professional ladder. These plans move beyond simple verification, offering utility tools that were previously restricted or required third-party software.
- Essential ($14.99/mo): Entry-level business tools and basic verification.
- Advanced ($49.99/mo): Includes the ability to schedule Instagram Stories up to 30 days in advance and, notably, allows businesses to include clickable links in organic grid posts.
- Expert ($149/mo): Targeted at mid-sized operations requiring higher visibility and more robust management tools.
- Max ($499/mo): The highest-tier offering for large-scale enterprise operations.

Individual App ‘Plus’ Plans
For users who do not require AI generation or business tools but want platform-specific enhancements, Meta is offering “Plus” subscriptions for individual apps. These are the most affordable entry points into the paid ecosystem.
WhatsApp Plus is priced at $2.99 per month, while individual Plus plans for Facebook and Instagram are set at $3.99 per month.
By segmenting its user base into these eight distinct tiers, Meta is moving away from a purely ad-supported model. This modular approach allows the company to monetize the specific costs associated with high-bandwidth AI tools while simultaneously providing professional-grade management features to its business demographic.
