Channing Dungey to Oversee Paramount Media Networks and Warner Bros. TV Group Under Skydance

Following the completion of the $111 billion merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery, Channing Dungey has moved into a significantly expanded role following the formation of Skydance. The deal, which officially closed on October 6, 2026, consolidates a massive array of television assets under Dungey’s oversight, bridging the legacy portfolios of two major media powerhouses.

Under the new corporate structure, Dungey retains her leadership of the Warner Bros. Television Group and existing Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) U.S. networks, including TBS, TNT, HGTV, and the Discovery Channel. Her portfolio now extends to include Paramount Media Networks, bringing iconic brands such as MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, and BET under her management.

The New Executive Hierarchy

The organizational structure follows a strategic decision by Skydance leadership to maintain the distinct identities of its primary production hubs. Skydance Co-CEO Ynon Kreiz has indicated that Warner Bros. Television (WBTV), CBS Studios, and Paramount TV Studios will continue to operate as separate entities. This “semi-autonomous” approach is designed to retain the individual scale and creative independence of each studio while functioning under the broader Skydance umbrella.

Portfolio Performance and Production Slate

The consolidation comes at a time of high productivity for the television group. In communications regarding the transition, the studio highlighted a current slate exceeding 80 titles across 20 different platforms. This output includes 13 new series orders and 13 renewals secured since the beginning of 2026.

Key successes cited within the production portfolio include the continued performance of “Ted Lasso” and the emergence of newer hits like “The Pitt.” By maintaining separate studio operations for WBTV, CBS, and Paramount, the new leadership aims to preserve these individual production pipelines while leveraging the combined reach of the 50-plus cable networks now housed within the Skydance ecosystem.
