Apple has officially entered the smart home hardware market with the debut of the HomeView smart display and the Apple Home Collection, a suite of accessories co-developed with industry veterans LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. Announced on October 13, 2026, the move marks a significant shift from Apple’s previous role as a platform provider to an active hardware player in the domestic automation space.
By partnering with LG and Schneider Electric, Apple is employing a “second-party” strategy to bridge a decade-long gap in its ecosystem. Unlike the purely first-party model used for the iPhone, these new devices carry the branding of the manufacturing partners while being co-designed by Apple to ensure deep system integration. This approach allows for a “one-tap” setup experience that eliminates the need for third-party accounts or separate manufacturer apps.

The HomeView Smart Display
The centerpiece of the launch is the HomeView, a $299 smart display designed for high-traffic areas like kitchens and entryways. The device features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display and a peak brightness of 500 nits. Powered by the A18 chip, the same processor found in the latest iPhone models.
The display includes a 12MP Center Stage camera that automatically keeps users in frame during FaceTime calls. For household management, the HomeView can recognize up to six different family members by face, automatically surfacing personalized calendars, notes, and media recommendations. It also supports spatial audio, allowing it to function as a standalone entertainment hub without requiring a connection to an iPhone or iPad.
The Apple Home Collection Accessories
The broader Apple Home Collection includes several core security and utility devices manufactured by LG and Schneider Electric. These products utilize the Matter and Aliro standards to ensure native compatibility with Apple’s Home Key and HomeKit Secure Video.
The hardware lineup includes:
- LG Video Doorbell ($249.95): Features a dual-camera system to monitor both visitors and packages at the doorstep.
- LG Smart Lock ($349.95): Equipped with Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology for hands-free unlocking via Apple Home Key.
- LG Indoor Camera: Includes a physical privacy mechanism where the lens tilts upward to hide inside the housing when occupants are home.
- Schneider Electric Floodlight Camera ($399.95): A high-output security light with integrated 4K recording.
- Sensors ($39.95): Various contact and motion sensors for automated home routines.

Availability and Regional Constraints
While the hardware is scheduled to begin shipping on November 13, 2026, the launch is limited to the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. Apple has confirmed that the HomeView and the accompanying Home Collection are not currently available in the European Union. This regional hold is attributed to ongoing regulatory hurdles regarding Siri AI (Apple Intelligence) in the EU, which is core to the functionality of the new smart home interfaces.
Pre-orders for the lineup are currently open in supported regions.
