Lauren Cohan to Lead New Prime Video Supernatural Series Stillwater

Lauren Cohan, a staple of the horror genre best known for her long-standing role as Maggie Rhee in The Walking Dead, has been cast as a series regular in Prime Video’s upcoming supernatural thriller Stillwater. The series is an adaptation of the acclaimed Skybound/Image graphic novel created by Chip Zdarsky and Ramón K. Pérez.

Cohan joins a growing ensemble that includes Mark O’Brien (Ready or Not) and Mia Tomlinson (The Beast Must Die), both of whom have also been confirmed as series regulars. They join Ben Hardy, who was previously cast in the lead role of Daniel West, an ex-con who finds himself trapped in the town’s bizarre reality.

The premise of Stillwater centers on a secluded town where the rules of nature are fundamentally broken: no one ages, no one dies, and no one is permitted to leave. For Cohan, the role represents a thematic pivot from her work on The Walking Dead. While her previous franchise focused on a world overrun by the dead, Stillwater explores the nightmare of a world where death is impossible.

Cohan is set to play Catherine “Cat” Keegan, a character described as a former homecoming queen burdened by old grudges and regrets. Mark O’Brien will portray her husband, Ted Keegan, a local sheriff’s deputy, while Mia Tomlinson will play Cat’s younger sister, Laura Quinn, a single mother living within the town’s confines.

The production marks a significant creative collaboration between Amazon MGM Studios, Berlanti Productions, and Skybound Entertainment. Greg Berlanti and Carly Wray are co-writing the pilot and will serve as executive producers. This project reunites Cohan with Skybound, the company behind the original Walking Dead comics and several of its television adaptations.

The timing of the casting follows the recent wrap of production on the third season of The Walking Dead: Dead City in September 2026. While Cohan remains a central figure in that franchise, AMC has not yet officially announced a fourth season, making her move into a new series regular role a notable development in her career.

In addition to its horror pedigree, the series distinguishes itself from other similarly named projects. Unlike the animated children’s series on Apple TV+, this Stillwater is being developed as a mature horror-thriller.

Further details regarding the production timeline and a tentative premiere date have yet to be disclosed.
