Google has officially confirmed the rollout of “Family Hub,” a new dedicated section within the Android Settings menu designed to centralize family management tools. The feature was detailed in the November 2026 Google System Services release notes following early sightings by Pixel 11 users in late October.
The update marks a transition for Android’s ecosystem, moving routine management tasks directly into the core operating system rather than requiring users to open the standalone Family Link app. This shift brings Android’s interface closer to the unified family sharing experience found on Apple’s iOS.
Centralized Management in Settings
The Family Hub appears as a prominent section at the top of the Android Settings menu, typically positioned near the user’s primary account information. By consolidating these tools, Google aims to streamline how users handle shared digital resources.
According to the release notes, the hub serves as a control center for several key functions:
- Subscription Management: Users can view and manage shared Google One storage, YouTube Premium memberships, and family AI plans.
- Location Sharing: Quick access to toggle and view the real-time location of family members.
- Shared Services: Direct links to shared Google Calendars and other collaborative tools.
- Member Administration: The ability to add or remove family members and adjust parental controls.

The feature is currently rolling out via Google Play services version 26.43. While the release notes confirm the functionality, the UI changes are being deployed in stages. Some users may not see the dedicated “Family” header in their settings immediately, even with the required Play services version installed.
Hardware Availability and Quick Share Updates
While the Family Hub was first identified on Google’s Pixel 11 hardware, it is expected to be a broad Android feature rather than a hardware exclusive. By integrating these controls into the system settings, Google is reducing the friction of managing a digital household, which previously required navigating through multiple sub-menus or external applications.
It is important to note that this “Family Hub” is strictly a software feature for Android mobile devices. It is distinct from Samsung’s long-standing “Family Hub” branding used for its line of smart refrigerators.
In addition to the family management changes, the November update introduces a notable enhancement to Quick Share. According to Android Authority, the update includes a new capability that allows Android devices to automatically back up photos and videos to Windows PCs. This utility functions similarly to cloud backup services but utilizes the local Quick Share protocol to transfer media directly to a desktop environment.
This update represents a broader effort by Google to improve the “out-of-box” experience for users with multiple devices or shared accounts, ensuring that subscription and safety tools are as accessible as standard system toggles like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
