Brainstorm Media has acquired the United States distribution rights for the sci-fi thriller Imposters, starring Jessica Rothe. The film is currently scheduled for a theatrical release in early 2027 following a series of high-profile festival screenings and a surge in international sales.

Written and directed by Caleb Phillips in his feature directorial debut, Imposters stars Rothe (Happy Death Day) alongside Charlie Barnett and Yul Vazquez. The story centers on a couple whose infant son suddenly vanishes. While the mother eventually finds a way to return him, the husband becomes increasingly convinced that the child who came back is not actually their son.

Global Distribution and International Sales

Blue Finch Films is handling worldwide sales for the project and has secured a slate of international distribution deals ahead of the 2026 American Film Market (AFM). The film’s commercial momentum has been bolstered by the involvement of executive producer Steven Schneider, a veteran of the genre known for his work on the Paranormal Activity and Insidious franchises. Schneider joined the project after its initial festival debut to help expand its global reach.

Key international territories have already been claimed by several major distributors:

  • Canada: Vortex
  • Australia and New Zealand: Umbrella
  • Germany: Tiberius
  • Spain: A Contracorriente Films
  • France: VOD Factory
  • Italy: Plaion
  • Portugal: Vendetta Filmes

Festival Trajectory and Production

Imposters premiered at the SXSW Film & TV Festival on March 15, 2026.

Following its world premiere at SXSW, the film traveled to the United Kingdom for a screening at FrightFest and later made its West Coast premiere at Beyond Fest. The acquisition by Brainstorm Media marks a significant step for Rothe, who is also slated to appear in the upcoming project River, continuing her recent run of momentum in the genre space.
