The Basic Chemical Industries Company (BCI) announced today, Sunday, the completion of the electrical connection to the plant for the production of chlorine and its derivatives in Jubail Industrial City, as well as the completion of the supply of all equipment and all construction and engineering works, and the start of the implementation of the operational test plan for certain equipment, systems and operational phases in factory.
BCI stated, in a statement on Saudi Tadawul that the completion rate is 98% and that the plant is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2022.
It was expected that the financial impact on the company’s results would appear after the completion of trial production and the start of commercial production, which is expected to take place during the second quarter of 2022.
He explained that work within the factory continues around the clock to ensure the swift completion of the test phase that precedes commercial production, subject to standard of quality and efficiency and environmental and industrial needs.
He said there is no change in the previously announced projected costs because the scope of the work has not changed.
He points out that the reason for the delay in the implementation of what previously announced is that after the connection of the electricity, the plant needs a period of time to complete the test operation phase, before starting commercial production.
