Beeper Mini removed from Play Store after iMessage mess

As a consequence of the Beeper Mini scandal, Apple finally decided to revoke the company’s pledge to provide iMessage for Android, and as a result, the application is no longer accessible through the Play Store. Beeper, on the other hand, is not finished with the app.

A crazy reverse-engineered technique of accessing iMessage over Android phones was used in the introduction of Beeper Mini in December. This approach did not require users to check in and instead made use of the phone number that was registered on their Android device. Despite the fact that at first glance the approach appeared to be quite reliable and might be challenging for Apple to eliminate, Apple swiftly replied by restricting a significant portion of Beeper’s capabilities. While Beeper was fighting back, Apple proceeded to make the situation even more grave. As a result, Beeper essentially gave up and provided consumers with a workaround that could be used on their iPhones or Macs to guarantee that everything would continue to function normally.

Beeper Mini has been withdrawn from the Google Play Store as a direct consequence of this. Both Beeper Cloud and Mini are still accessible for sideloading for individuals who are interested in using them. Beeper Cloud is still available.

In reality, the removal took place a few weeks ago; nevertheless, the formal announcement was made today in a message that was sent to customers of Beeper Cloud. Integration with iMessage is now included on the list of “Labs” features offered by Beeper Cloud.

We have moved iMessage to ‘Labs’ in Beeper Cloud and removed Beeper Mini from the Play Store…

Eric Migicovsky, who works for Beeper, provided users with an update on the company’s future plans in the same release. Included in this is the fact that the firm is now working on a “big performance boost” for its desktop client, in addition to working on porting its other chat app services from Cloud to Mini.

Our #1 priority right now is the Beeper Android app. As we explained in our Product Roadmap post, our beautiful and fast Beeper Mini app is now the foundation of the brand new Beeper Android app. We’re currently in the process of adding all 14 other chat networks in. It’s a completely new app, with a new design, built for top speed and performance. Android friends – get excited 🙂

We’re also working on a big performance boost for Beeper Desktop, improvements to the Linkedin, Instagram, and Google Messages bridges, among many other things!
