Bloomberg: Turkey orders the resumption of the flow of crude oil to the port of Ceyhan

Bloomberg News on Tuesday quoted informed sources as saying that Turkey has ordered the resumption of the flow of crude oil to the port of Ceyhan.

The Ministry of Natural Resources in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region said on Monday that the region had temporarily halted the flow of its oil through the Turkish port of Ceyhan after a major earthquake hit Turkey and Syria.

The ministry added in a statement that oil exports will resume after “the completion of a thorough examination of the pipelines,” according to Reuters.

For her part, a BP Azerbaijan spokeswoman said a “small” oil leak was detected in the Turkish port of Ceyhan after the earthquake, and was subsequently shut down.

The discovery of the leak came after a major earthquake hit Turkey and Syria on Monday, halting operations at Ceyhan port and cutting off the flow of oil through the export pipeline from Kirkuk in northern Iraq .
