The Danish Government Considers Legal Measures to Curb Protests Following Quran Burnings

The Danish government announced Sunday that it will study legal ways to curb the protests, which in some circumstances include burning copies of the Holy Books, citing security concerns after violent responses to movements in Denmark and Sweden that included the burning of copies of the Holy Quran.

In a separate statement, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Christson confirmed that he is in close contact with his Danish counterpart Mette Frederiksen and that a similar process is already taking place in his country.

“We have also started analyzing the already legal situation to consider measures to enhance our national security and the security of Swedes in Sweden and around the world,” he said in a post on Instagram.
