Former Nebraska star Tommie Frazier says coach Scott Frost ‘can’t do it’ after Iowa loss

The 2019 Nebraska season ended on Black Friday with a 27-24 loss to Iowa. This was limited to a 5-7 season, Scott Frost’s second straight losing campaign in Lincoln.

Maybe Frost could be forgiven for the 2019 parade, considering he still needs time to bring his players in and lay the foundation for a winning program (which he worked on in his previous stint in Central Florida). But Frost’s comments after losing to Iowa – that he “inherited a team with weak confidence” – were less apologetic.

They also received criticism from former star general Tommie Frazier, who tweeted his sentiments to Scott on Saturday.

I won’t comment on Nebraska football again until they make a bowl. It is obvious that people believe in someone who cannot do it. These players played their eyes yesterday.

Frazier’s is not necessarily a subtle comment on Frost, but it flickers a bit, knowing that the two players were once teammates in the 1995 Nebraska league. Frazier led the Cornhuskers to Tom Osborne’s first two championships in 1994-95. Frost advanced to his final title team in 1997.

It is unlikely this will affect Frost’s status as Huskers coach by 2020. But one thing is certain: Frost will be without Frazier’s support until the Huskers start seeing better results.
