In favor of the countries in via of development .. by dismantling the Qatar stadiums after the World Cup

Doha – Ahmed Youssef: With Qatar preparing to govern the last chapter of the World Cup in Qatar, which will end on December 18, there are other preparations to dismantle part of the World Cup stadium seats and transfer them in some countries in via of development to enhance its infrastructure in sports field. Qatar seeks this initiative to achieve the concept of sustainability and environmental conservation from carbon emissions from energy consumption and associated use of construction and demolition materials, in particular concrete blocks, which the stadium designers wished to avoid as much as possible being used in construction operations. Operations to deal with the legacy of the World Cup in Qatar vary, from a stadium that will be completely dismantled and then shipped in other countries, in stages that will be converted in destinations for shows and sporting events. This initiative will involve the dismantling of more than 150,000 seats from remaining stadiums, to become a pillar for the construction of around 22 new stadiums in poor countries and in via of development. This picture is about the stadiums in Qatar that have hosted the World Cup and are in waiting for modifications after the end of the World Championship. Stadium 974 A symbol of innovation and sustainability, Stadium 974 will be completely dismantled after the tournament, as it is built with containers and steel and is 100% dismantled. The containers and the structure in steel will also be reused in the construction of structures overlooking the seafront of the country for the benefit of citizens, as well as in the construction of a business center. Al-Bayt Stadium Al-Bayt Stadium hosted the opening match of the World Cup and attention was paid to elements of sustainability in its development process, in since the seats at the top can be taken apart again after the end of the tournament and used in the service of other projects. Sustainability aspects are strongly present in the areas surrounding the stadium located in the city of Al Khor, adorned with parks and lakes and endowed with a green reserve which adds to the merit of Qatar in terms of environmental protection. Lusail Stadium The stadium, an architectural masterpiece, was destined to host the 2022 World Cup final and, after the tournament, its characteristics will change to become an integrated community of schools, shops, cafes, health and sports facilities. Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium The stadium is located on the outskirts of the desert and expresses the customs and traditions of Qatar. In the context of sustainability and environmental protection, the stadium construction agency used 80 percent of the building materials with which the old stadium was built which in he previously occupied the site and has tended the surrounding trees very carefully. After the end of the tournament, the seats in the upper part of the stadium will be dismantled for use in other projects in Qatar and the world, and the stadium will be transformed into the headquarters of the Qatari Al-Rayyan Club. Al Janoub Stadium The design of the stadium was inspired by the sails of traditional Qatari boats, to glorify the history of the city of Al Wakrah, which is located on its land. At the end of the tournament, the number of seats in the stadiums will be reduced and part of it will be donated to other sporting projects in all over the world. In the context of sustainability, the stadium has been surrounded by gardens with sports and leisure facilities that will serve the community in future. Al Thumama Stadium Considering sustainability, the stadium is surrounded by vast green spaces surrounding a series of corridors for play and relaxation. After the tournament, the number of its 44,000 seats will be reduced to just 20,000 and donated to sports projects in countries without infrastructure. Education City Stadium The Education City Stadium is an outstanding sports venue that highlights Qatar’s role as a distinguished educational destination for students from all over the world, in how much thearea of the stadium hosts a number of leading international universities. After the tournament, new facilities will be added in the vicinity of the stadium to enhance the skills of residents of the region and students studying at surrounding universities and enable them to keep pace with the transformations future and motivate them academically.
