Introducing the SV Rover: The World’s First Street-Legal Hypertruck with Desert Racing Capabilities

The Scarbo Vintage Rover made its grand debut at Colorado’s FAT International Ice Race, and it’s not your typical truck. Originally designed as a desert racer for the Baja, it has now evolved into a two-seat street-legal beast capable of high-speed desert racing and low-speed technical off-road driving.

Inspired by the classic Land Rover Defender, this hypertruck is a combination of American muscle and action-movie excess. It offers drivers the option of a powerful rear/mid 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine with 1,100 horsepower and a 65-gallon fuel tank, or a cleaner, greener 750-kW electric drive paired with a 75-kWh battery pack.

The truck boasts a mix of carbon-fiber and aluminum bodywork, 40-inch tires mounted on 20-inch forged wheels, wide-shouldered hinged fenders, and Brembo six-piston braking with 400-mm carbon-ceramic rotors for impeccable stopping power. While the interior is designed for speed, it still provides comfort with two bucket seats, air conditioning, heating, a digital gauge cluster, infotainment display, and a Dyn Audio 10-channel audio system. The cargo area in the back provides additional space for storage.

In essence, the Scarbo Vintage Rover is described as the world’s first street-legal hypertruck and is a powerful blend of style, performance, and off-road capabilities. So, brace yourself for the next level of adventure.
