Sony might be releasing a new Astro Bot game this year, according to reports. While there are no plans to release new games from major franchises like God of War or Spider-Man in the upcoming fiscal year, there may be unannounced games from other established IPs. Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb suggested that a new Astro game could be in the works and that it has the potential to become a major hit for Sony.
The last game in the Astro series, Astro’s Playroom, was released in 2020 and is included with every PS5 console. While it was well received, it also served as a tech demo for the new DualSense controller. The developer, Team Asobi, became its own standalone studio in 2021 and is reportedly working on a new 3D action game, with promises that it will be its “biggest to date.”
