Betans transfers the D-train to the 7-line, spending his entire career with his Crosstown Yankees opponent before signing with the Mets. In his career, Betans relayed a nearly 2.36 ERA almost exclusively from the bullpen, making a start in 2011, his first taste of big league action.

Betants are coming off a difficult season in which they only put up 2/3 of an inning on September 15 after facing shoulder injuries during the season. An Achilles injury with a unique appearance limited him for the rest of the season.

This move helps a Mets bullpen, which was among the worst in major competitions last season. Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen tried to fix their bullpen before the 2019 season by trading for Edwin Diaz, a move that didn’t exactly work in Diaz’s first season in Queens. Diaz ran an EEG of 5.59 in 66 games and had problems with closing games throughout the season.

The quarterbacks should hit the Mets’ last inning in a bullpen featuring Diaz, Jeurys Familia, Justin Wilson and Seth Lugo.
