Military reports differed on the extent of the advance of Russian forces from the Ukrainian capital, Kiev. According to US reports, Russian forces are now 15-40km from Kiev, having made “progress” on the ground in the past 24 hours.
Satellite images revealed a change in formation and spread in the large Russian military convoy bound for the Ukrainian capital, Kiev. Meanwhile, a US official said Russian forces are now some 40 kilometers from the Ukrainian capital, Kiev. The photos also showed that Russian armored units are also maneuvering in proximity of cities adjacent to Antonov airport.
The US official said Russia has made progress towards Kiev in recent days. The official stressed that there were bitter battles between the Ukrainian and Russian armies in the vicinity of the capital.
There were conflicting reports of Russian forces approaching at a distance of fifteen to forty kilometers from the Ukrainian capital.
But despite these advances and the conflict to the extent in which Russian forces are approaching Kiev, US intelligence reports indicate that Kiev will not be under the military control of Moscow for four to six weeks.
