Research updated October 15, 2026. This is a buyer’s guide to released 2-in-1 computers that can fold into tablet mode or detach from a keyboard. We reviewed manufacturer configuration pages, identifiable retail SKUs, availability signals and independent professional reporting. We did not personally test the machines, measure battery life, validate pen latency, or run performance benchmarks.
The best choice depends less on a processor ranking and more on the mechanics: a 360-degree hinge retains the keyboard and weighs more in tablet mode; a detachable feels more like a tablet but requires a keyboard purchase and a stable surface for its kickstand. Active pen support is not proof a pen ships in the box. Screen resolution, palm rejection and pen tilt can differ by model and application.
Our broader Best Laptops of 2026 compares conventional notebooks across more uses. For fixed budgets, the published college-laptop guide covers inexpensive non-gaming systems; this page instead prioritizes touch, hinge or detachable construction, pen usability, and tablet ergonomics.
Quick comparison: eight exact 2-in-1 configurations
| Pick | Exact model | Form | Selected CPU / RAM / storage | Price evidence (region) | Pen cost / stock caution |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| P001 | Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 Aura Edition Gen 11, 16-inch (83TE0002US) | 360-degree convertible | Intel Core Ultra 7 355; 24GB soldered LPDDR5X; 1TB M.2 SSD | US listing approximately $1,399.99 through an independent product aggregator; Lenovo’s own SKU checkout price was not reliably exposed, so treat this as provisional, not a guaranteed offer. | Do not transfer Notebookcheck’s March 2026 Yoga 7 16AGP11 AMD battery/performance measurements to this Intel 16IPH11 SKU. |
| P002 | HP OmniBook X Flip 16t-cb000 (C33GPAV_1, Core Ultra 5 325/16GB/512GB) | 360-degree convertible | Intel Core Ultra 5 325; 16GB onboard memory; 512GB PCIe Gen5 M.2 SSD | US HP configurator showed $1,499.99 on the live page on October 15; previously indexed promotional $899.99 snapshots are not a guaranteed current checkout price. | Independent HP X Flip reviews cover different configurations, including OLED and earlier AS-series models; no battery figure is assigned to this exact C33GPAV_1 build. |
| P003 | Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 DB04250 (offer db04250_fixed_01) | 360-degree convertible | Intel Core Ultra 7 256V; 16GB RAM; 1TB SSD | US Dell listed $1,579.99 for offer db04250_fixed_01; its Add to Cart action reported a technical issue, so checkout and delivery must be reconfirmed. | Notebookcheck’s extensively discussed AMD DB04255 is not this Intel DB04250; no AMD test numbers have been applied. |
| P004 | Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 NP960QHA-KG1US (16GB/1TB) | 360-degree convertible | Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 2; 16GB RAM; 1TB SSD | Samsung US lists $1,999.99 for the 16GB/1TB gray NP960QHA-KG1US; ZIP-dependent shipment may be unavailable, so do not assume nationwide immediate stock. | A TechRadar family review reports a looped-video battery result under specified settings; that is independent reviewer evidence, not a measured result from our newsroom or necessarily this precise retail SKU. |
| P005 | Microsoft Surface Pro 12-inch (1st Edition), Snapdragon X Plus 8-core/16GB/256GB | Detachable | Snapdragon X Plus eight-core ARM processor; 16GB LPDDR5X; 256GB storage | Microsoft US direct-store 16GB/256GB Platinum option $1,049.99 on October 15; keyboard, Slim Pen and even wall charger are separately selectable and may add substantial cost. | Do not confuse the 12-inch first edition with the newer 13-inch Surface Pro 2026 Snapdragon X2 model or treat the optional keyboard as included. |
| P006 | ASUS Vivobook 14 Flip TP3407SA-ES54T (Core Ultra 5 226V/16GB/512GB) | 360-degree convertible | Intel Core Ultra 5 226V; 16GB onboard memory; 512GB PCIe SSD | Pakistan retailer DiscountStore lists PKR 374,999 for sealed TP3407SA-ES54T, with a claimed one-unit stock and 15-day international shipping; import and warranty terms require confirmation. | One reseller’s page incorrectly labels the same TP3407SA-ES54T ‘non-touch’ in a metadata field while describing a touch OLED convertible; verify the actual SKU on the box. |
| P007 | Lenovo IdeaPad 5i 2-in-1 Gen 11, 15-inch (83UL0002US) | 360-degree convertible | Intel Core Ultra 5 322; 16GB DDR5-5600 in two 8GB SODIMMs; 512GB M.2 2242 SSD | Lenovo’s US category listing showed $1,199.99 for 83UL0002US; product-specific live checkout price and regional delivery should be confirmed. | The SKU’s spec block names a Lenovo Linear Pen, while marketing also says ‘shown with optional Pen’; do not claim an included stylus without checkout confirmation. |
| P008 | Acer Chromebook Spin 312 CP312-1HN-C67S (NX.J1KEC.002) | 360-degree convertible | Intel Processor N100; 8GB soldered LPDDR5; 128GB eMMC (not NVMe SSD) | Czech Datart retail reference CZK 9,590, but some exact-SKU shops now say unavailable; another distributor quotes CZK 10,038 including tax with availability on request. October checkout stock is UNVERIFIED. | The SKU is released but some retailers report sold-out or order-on-request; buyer must verify a genuine new unit before purchase. |
How we ranked them: transparent research-only rubric
We use a weighted editorial framework rather than pretending to have measured eight units in one lab. 30% convertible/tablet ergonomics (hinge, balance, weight and detachable behavior); 20% screen and pen practicality (resolution, touch, included versus optional pen and known limitations); 15% configuration and longevity (exact CPU, RAM, SSD and repairability); 15% connectivity and battery evidence (verified Wh, ports and independent tests when the tested SKU matches); 10% purchase value (current regional price and accessory costs); and 10% availability, warranty and evidence quality. These percentages total 100. We do not assign pseudo-precise performance or battery scores when exact-SKU lab results are missing. Rankings are editorial recommendations, not empirical test results.
Prices are local snapshots, not converted global offers. US sales tax, Pakistani import duties, European VAT, keyboard layout, included charger, warranty region and currency fluctuations can change the real price. When a checkout page is dynamic, an offer has disappeared or stock is uncertain, we label it explicitly instead of claiming immediate availability.
P001 — Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 Aura Edition Gen 11, 16-inch (83TE0002US)
Best premium large-screen convertible.
Exact configuration and price
Intel Core Ultra 7 355; 24GB soldered LPDDR5X; 1TB M.2 SSD; 16-inch 1920×1200 OLED touch; Windows edition differs among third-party listings.
US listing approximately $1,399.99 through an independent product aggregator; Lenovo’s own SKU checkout price was not reliably exposed, so treat this as provisional, not a guaranteed offer.
Hinge, pen and tablet experience
A genuine 360-degree Yoga hinge enables laptop, tent, stand and folded-tablet positions. Lenovo’s Gen 11 16-inch platform advertises a 70Wh battery; confirm that capacity and the supplied pen against the final 83TE0002US invoice. Its large OLED surface is attractive for diagrams, PDFs and presentations but a 16-inch folded laptop is a heavy handheld tablet.
What works and what does not
Strengths: Large OLED canvas, generous 24GB memory, current Intel platform and a substantial storage allocation.
Trade-offs: Soldered RAM, 16-inch tablet bulk, variable region/OS listings, pen inclusion and exact US checkout unresolved.
Who should buy it
Choose this when a large pen-capable workspace matters more than one-handed tablet comfort. Compare with the 15-inch IdeaPad below if RAM servicing and cost are higher priorities.
Research caveat: Do not transfer Notebookcheck’s March 2026 Yoga 7 16AGP11 AMD battery/performance measurements to this Intel 16IPH11 SKU.
Evidence: manufacturer or exact-SKU product page and independent coverage or exact retail context. Sources are supplied for readers to recheck configuration, currency, warranty and stock before paying.
P002 — HP OmniBook X Flip 16t-cb000 (C33GPAV_1, Core Ultra 5 325/16GB/512GB)
Best spacious Windows convertible for mixed work.
Exact configuration and price
Intel Core Ultra 5 325; 16GB onboard memory; 512GB PCIe Gen5 M.2 SSD; 16-inch 1920×1200 IPS touch at 400 nits; Windows 11 Home; 70Wh battery.
US HP configurator showed $1,499.99 on the live page on October 15; previously indexed promotional $899.99 snapshots are not a guaranteed current checkout price.
Hinge, pen and tablet experience
A 360-degree flip chassis gives desk, stand, tent and folded-tablet modes. The IPS panel is 100% sRGB on the selected configuration, unlike higher-cost OLED options that should not be treated as included. HP lists an IR camera and backlit keyboard; verify stylus packaging and active-pen compatibility before buying.
What works and what does not
Strengths: Big touch screen, confirmed 70Wh specification, configurable Windows Pro upgrade and HP’s direct US customization flow.
Trade-offs: Onboard RAM cannot be upgraded, 16-inch tablet mode is cumbersome, selected IPS display is not the advertised 3K OLED upgrade, promotional pricing moves quickly.
Who should buy it
Suitable for spreadsheets and desk-to-couch use where a 16-inch touch panel is an advantage. Choose a smaller model for commuting or regular handwriting while standing.
Research caveat: Independent HP X Flip reviews cover different configurations, including OLED and earlier AS-series models; no battery figure is assigned to this exact C33GPAV_1 build.
Evidence: manufacturer or exact-SKU product page and independent coverage or exact retail context. Sources are supplied for readers to recheck configuration, currency, warranty and stock before paying.
P003 — Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 DB04250 (offer db04250_fixed_01)
Best conventional 14-inch Windows hybrid.
Exact configuration and price
Intel Core Ultra 7 256V; 16GB RAM; 1TB SSD; 14-inch 1920×1200 touch; Windows 11 Home; integrated 64Wh battery; approximately 1.61kg starting weight.
US Dell listed $1,579.99 for offer db04250_fixed_01; its Add to Cart action reported a technical issue, so checkout and delivery must be reconfirmed.
Hinge, pen and tablet experience
The folding hinge is a classic 360-degree convertible rather than a detachable tablet. Dell lists one Thunderbolt 4, a separate USB-C with DisplayPort/charging, USB-A, HDMI 2.1 and a headset jack, a practical mix for a docking station and classroom projector. The display is a standard FHD-class touch panel rather than OLED.
What works and what does not
Strengths: Well-rounded ports, compact 14-inch footprint, verified 64Wh battery and 1TB capacity on the named offer.
Trade-offs: Soldered-memory considerations, unremarkable screen resolution for pen art, active pen support/accessories must be checked, and cart availability is uncertain.
Who should buy it
This is a sensible default if you want to keep a traditional laptop keyboard and ports while occasionally folding it for notes or video. Buyers who draw for hours should prioritize pen latency and panel quality over the CPU badge.
Research caveat: Notebookcheck’s extensively discussed AMD DB04255 is not this Intel DB04250; no AMD test numbers have been applied.
Evidence: manufacturer or exact-SKU product page and independent coverage or exact retail context. Sources are supplied for readers to recheck configuration, currency, warranty and stock before paying.
P004 — Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 NP960QHA-KG1US (16GB/1TB)
Best included-pen premium AMOLED convertible.
Exact configuration and price
Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 2; 16GB RAM; 1TB SSD; 16-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X touch; 76Wh battery according to independent distributor specification; Windows 11 Home.
Samsung US lists $1,999.99 for the 16GB/1TB gray NP960QHA-KG1US; ZIP-dependent shipment may be unavailable, so do not assume nationwide immediate stock.
Hinge, pen and tablet experience
A 360-degree folding design with an S Pen included in Samsung’s listed box avoids the accessory uncertainty of several rivals. Its AMOLED panel and larger drawing surface suit photo review, annotated slides and pen sketches, though the long diagonal is less comfortable as a handheld tablet. Samsung’s phone integration adds value primarily for Galaxy ecosystem owners.
What works and what does not
Strengths: In-box S Pen, AMOLED display, 1TB storage and a larger canvas for annotation.
Trade-offs: High US price, large chassis in tablet mode, region-specific shipping restrictions, soldered memory and nontrivial replacement costs.
Who should buy it
Pick this for frequent pen use on a desk and strong display preferences, not as a replacement for a lightweight standalone tablet. Test palm rejection in your drawing software because application support affects the experience.
Research caveat: A TechRadar family review reports a looped-video battery result under specified settings; that is independent reviewer evidence, not a measured result from our newsroom or necessarily this precise retail SKU.
Evidence: manufacturer or exact-SKU product page and independent coverage or exact retail context. Sources are supplied for readers to recheck configuration, currency, warranty and stock before paying.
P005 — Microsoft Surface Pro 12-inch (1st Edition), Snapdragon X Plus 8-core/16GB/256GB
Best detachable tablet-first Windows PC.
Exact configuration and price
Snapdragon X Plus eight-core ARM processor; 16GB LPDDR5X; 256GB storage; 12-inch PixelSense LCD touch; Windows 11 Home; two USB-C 3.2 ports; Wi-Fi 7; 686g tablet alone.
Microsoft US direct-store 16GB/256GB Platinum option $1,049.99 on October 15; keyboard, Slim Pen and even wall charger are separately selectable and may add substantial cost.
Hinge, pen and tablet experience
Unlike the other hinged entries, the screen is a true detachable tablet with integrated kickstand; it becomes a laptop only with a compatible Surface Pro 12-inch Keyboard. Microsoft lists up to 16 hours of local video or 12 hours of web use based on its own 2025 test, not our measurement. Battery watt-hours were not verified for this exact variant.
What works and what does not
Strengths: Lightest tablet-first form factor in this comparison, genuine detachable design, optional pen and a compact travel footprint.
Trade-offs: Accessory cost, limited built-in ports, kickstand stability on a lap, ARM driver/app compatibility and non-upgradeable RAM.
Who should buy it
Best for reading and handwritten annotation on the move, provided your essential Windows applications and peripherals support Windows on ARM. A convertible with built-in keyboard is less complicated for extended lap typing.
Research caveat: Do not confuse the 12-inch first edition with the newer 13-inch Surface Pro 2026 Snapdragon X2 model or treat the optional keyboard as included.
Evidence: manufacturer or exact-SKU product page and independent coverage or exact retail context. Sources are supplied for readers to recheck configuration, currency, warranty and stock before paying.
P006 — ASUS Vivobook 14 Flip TP3407SA-ES54T (Core Ultra 5 226V/16GB/512GB)
Best compact OLED flip for regional buyers.
Exact configuration and price
Intel Core Ultra 5 226V; 16GB onboard memory; 512GB PCIe SSD; 14-inch 1920×1200 60Hz OLED touch; 70Wh battery; Windows 11 Home; approximately 1.57kg.
Pakistan retailer DiscountStore lists PKR 374,999 for sealed TP3407SA-ES54T, with a claimed one-unit stock and 15-day international shipping; import and warranty terms require confirmation.
Hinge, pen and tablet experience
A full 360-degree hinge and OLED touch screen suit movie viewing, light sketching and desk presentations. Third-party exact-model specifications list Thunderbolt 4, a second USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, microSD and a privacy-shutter webcam. ASUS pen support does not mean an active pen is bundled; confirm the specific pen protocol and local box contents.
What works and what does not
Strengths: OLED at 14 inches, practical ports, Wi-Fi 7 and 70Wh listed capacity, exact Pakistan SKU price.
Trade-offs: Imported stock and local warranty uncertainty, soldered RAM, no verified exact-SKU independent battery test, and pen accessory inclusion unclear.
Who should buy it
Worth comparing for Pakistan buyers prioritizing OLED over screen size. Request the actual manufacturer part number, keyboard layout, seal and warranty documents before payment.
Research caveat: One reseller’s page incorrectly labels the same TP3407SA-ES54T ‘non-touch’ in a metadata field while describing a touch OLED convertible; verify the actual SKU on the box.
Evidence: manufacturer or exact-SKU product page and independent coverage or exact retail context. Sources are supplied for readers to recheck configuration, currency, warranty and stock before paying.
P007 — Lenovo IdeaPad 5i 2-in-1 Gen 11, 15-inch (83UL0002US)
Best serviceable-memory value convertible.
Exact configuration and price
Intel Core Ultra 5 322; 16GB DDR5-5600 in two 8GB SODIMMs; 512GB M.2 2242 SSD; 15.3-inch 1920×1200 IPS 400-nit touch; 60Wh battery; Windows 11 Home.
Lenovo’s US category listing showed $1,199.99 for 83UL0002US; product-specific live checkout price and regional delivery should be confirmed.
Hinge, pen and tablet experience
Lenovo confirms a 360-degree hinge, two USB-C, two USB-A, HDMI, microSD, Wi-Fi 7 and 1080p IR camera. The 15-inch size is a compromise between writing area and tablet weight. Lenovo promotes dual RAM slots and two SSD bays at family level; verify the service manual for this exact chassis before purchasing upgrade parts.
What works and what does not
Strengths: Two replaceable RAM modules, generous physical connectivity, current Intel chip and a 60Wh battery specification.
Trade-offs: 45% NTSC base panel rather than premium OLED, pen described as optional in family marketing, relatively large folded tablet and uncertain real-world battery time.
Who should buy it
A strong choice for families who value memory upgrades and long-term utility more than a premium display. Its basic panel is less attractive for color-critical illustration.
Research caveat: The SKU’s spec block names a Lenovo Linear Pen, while marketing also says ‘shown with optional Pen’; do not claim an included stylus without checkout confirmation.
Evidence: manufacturer or exact-SKU product page and independent coverage or exact retail context. Sources are supplied for readers to recheck configuration, currency, warranty and stock before paying.
P008 — Acer Chromebook Spin 312 CP312-1HN-C67S (NX.J1KEC.002)
Best compact ChromeOS classroom convertible.
Exact configuration and price
Intel Processor N100; 8GB soldered LPDDR5; 128GB eMMC (not NVMe SSD); 12.2-inch 1920×1200 IPS touch; 50Wh battery; ChromeOS; about 1.29kg.
Czech Datart retail reference CZK 9,590, but some exact-SKU shops now say unavailable; another distributor quotes CZK 10,038 including tax with availability on request. October checkout stock is UNVERIFIED.
Hinge, pen and tablet experience
This is a genuine folding Chromebook, not a Windows laptop. Acer confirms USI pen support but NO pen in the box, Wi-Fi 6E, two USB-A ports, one USB-C and HDMI 1.4. ChromeOS works well for web, Google Workspace and browser-centric study, but native Windows programs, certain school exam clients and specialist drawing apps may not run.
What works and what does not
Strengths: Compact 12.2-inch tablet mode, useful 8GB RAM for ChromeOS, USI pen compatibility and comparatively modest price.
Trade-offs: Slow eMMC versus NVMe, older N100 processor, fixed RAM, limited local storage, optional pen, and stock uncertainty.
Who should buy it
A practical classroom alternative if browser-based work is enough. Do not buy it for required Windows-only apps, Adobe desktop workflows or heavy multitasking.
Research caveat: The SKU is released but some retailers report sold-out or order-on-request; buyer must verify a genuine new unit before purchase.
Evidence: manufacturer or exact-SKU product page and independent coverage or exact retail context. Sources are supplied for readers to recheck configuration, currency, warranty and stock before paying.
Choosing between a detachable and a 360-degree hinge
A detachable like Surface Pro 12-inch is the right starting point for someone who mostly reads, annotates and carries a slate. You can remove the keyboard completely. The trade-off is that a kickstand and separate keyboard are less stable on knees than a normal clamshell, and accessories raise the actual system cost. Surface Pro 12 also uses Windows on ARM; confirm printers, specialist drivers, VPN clients, exam software and plug-ins before choosing it for work.
For people who spend 70–90% of their day typing, a hinged convertible is usually the more predictable choice. Its keyboard is always available and the hinge can support tent mode on a desk. However, folding a 16-inch 1.8kg-class machine into tablet mode does not make it feel like an iPad. If handwriting while standing is central, favor a smaller chassis or a detachable and test it with the actual pen.
Pen support, palm rejection and screen reality
Do not conflate ‘touchscreen’, ‘pen compatible’ and ‘pen included’. Samsung explicitly lists the S Pen in its Book5 Pro 360 box; Microsoft sells its Slim Pen and keyboard separately; Acer’s exact Spin 312 spec explicitly says USI support with no pen included. Lenovo and ASUS pen availability may depend on regional bundles. Ask for the protocol (MPP, AES, USI or proprietary), tilt/pressure compatibility and replacement-nib availability. Palm rejection can depend on both the digitizer and the drawing application; no universal claim can be made from a spec sheet.
OLED can improve contrast for media and creative work, but the Lenovo Yoga and Samsung panels are not interchangeable with the IPS screens of the named Dell, HP, Lenovo IdeaPad and Acer variants. An OLED upgrade shown in an advertisement is not automatically part of the lower-cost configuration. Brightness and anti-reflection treatments also matter when a 2-in-1 is used flat under overhead lights.
Battery, ports and repairability: what the evidence supports
Battery capacity in Wh is not the same as runtime. Verified or explicitly attributed capacities here include HP’s 70Wh, Dell’s 64Wh, Samsung’s 76Wh, Lenovo IdeaPad’s 60Wh, ASUS’s 70Wh and Acer’s 50Wh. Microsoft publishes use-case-based claims but we did not confirm a Wh figure for the named Surface Pro 12 configuration. Independent Notebookcheck and TechRadar reports provide useful context for specific family members, yet tested CPU, screen, battery and firmware variants can differ. We therefore do not paste a tested OLED unit’s battery hours onto a different IPS retail SKU.
For a single-cable desk setup, inspect whether USB-C offers charging, DisplayPort, Thunderbolt or merely data. The Dell and ASUS examples have a broader native port selection than the Surface Pro 12; the Acer Chromebook has USB-C, USB-A and HDMI but not Windows application compatibility. For repairs, soldered memory in the Yoga, ASUS, Samsung and HP choices is a long-term constraint. Lenovo’s 83UL0002US IdeaPad explicitly lists two RAM SODIMMs; consult its hardware-maintenance manual before assuming SSD-bay or warranty-safe upgrades.
Availability and regional warranty: October 2026 editorial warnings
The named Dell US offer displays a checkout technical error; Samsung shipment depends on ZIP; the Acer Chromebook is sold out at some Czech retailers; Lenovo Yoga pricing differs among regional sellers; and the ASUS Pakistan offer relies on imported stock. These are not hypothetical footnotes. A product can be released and still be temporarily unavailable in a particular region. Before publication or purchase, recheck the exact SKU, current stock, local keyboard layout, return window and manufacturer-backed warranty rather than trusting a search-result price.
Frequently asked questions
Is a 2-in-1 laptop as comfortable as a tablet?
Usually not when the keyboard remains attached. A detachable is easier to hold; a 360-degree convertible is more stable for typing and tent-mode viewing. The right answer depends on how many minutes per day you actually use tablet mode.
Can every touch laptop use a pressure-sensitive pen?
No. Capacitive finger touch does not guarantee active digitizer support, tilt or pressure sensitivity. Check the exact pen standard and the regional box contents.
Will a Chromebook 2-in-1 run Windows software?
No, not natively. ChromeOS supports browser workflows and some Android/Linux paths, but a Windows-only application or device driver may require a Windows machine.
Can I replace the RAM later?
It varies by exact chassis. The listed Lenovo IdeaPad 5i has two DDR5 SODIMMs; several premium models have soldered RAM. Verify the hardware manual and warranty before opening the laptop.
Are advertised 20-hour battery claims comparable?
No. Video-loop tests, web browsing, OLED brightness, refresh rate and performance profiles are different workloads. Compare independently measured results only when model and test method are identified, and treat manufacturer maximums as claims.
Bottom line
For a premium large display, shortlist the Lenovo Yoga 7i Gen 11 and Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro 360, with Samsung particularly appealing when the included S Pen matters. The HP OmniBook X Flip and Dell 14 Plus are more conventional Windows hybrids; the Lenovo IdeaPad 5i offers unusually practical memory servicing. Surface Pro 12 is the detachable choice for genuine tablet-first use, ASUS supplies an OLED 14-inch option for regionally supported buyers, and Acer Spin 312 offers a compact ChromeOS route when its exact SKU is actually available. No recommendation substitutes for verifying current inventory and a pen-compatible, warrantied configuration.
