Dr. Tharwat El-Zeyni, Vice President of the Poultry Union, said Egypt’s poultry industry is being threatened by non-discharge of feed from ports as a result of the dollar and hard currency shortage.

Tharwat Al Zeini added in an exclusive statement to Cairo 24 that Egypt will suffer from a gap in poultry production in the coming period as a result of many poultry farmers turning away from poultry production due to feed shortages, in addition to the existence of a black market in feed for sale. at high prices and exaggerated quantities and beyond the capacity of the breeders, which He made them sell it at any price and in any way.

And the vice-president of the Union of Poultry Farmers continued that 2 million 700 thousand tons of feed, including soybeans and corn, are delayed in Egyptian ports as a result of non-release, which threatens to collapse the poultry industry, pointing out that these quantities are divided by one million 800 thousand tons of corn and 900,000 tons of soybeans, indicating that the Egyptian market needs 900,000 tons per month.

Dr. Tharwat Al Zeini called for the need to have a supply of fodder so that livestock farmers feel confident and sustainable in production, and more fodder must be released from ports to save this industry, which is on the verge of collapse.

For his part, Dr. Mostafa Fayez, Professor of Poultry Economics, opined on the need to speed up the cultivation of feed in Egypt, especially in the Western Desert and the reclaimed areas of Wadi al-Natrun.

Fayez added that Egypt’s poultry industry is a strategic industry and should be protected as it employs more than 3 million workers and has an investment of £100 billion, according to official statistics. Domestic animal husbandry should also be encouraged in accordance with sound principles. that take into account vital safety.

Al Qasir, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, revealed the details of the poultry and egg price crisis as a result of the rise in feed prices, explaining that there are committees from the Central Bank, the House of Representatives and the Ministry of Agriculture overseeing the release of feed and its delivery to importers.

Regarding price increases, Al Qusayr confirmed that since yesterday, a committee has been formed from the Consumer Protection, the House of Representatives, the Ministry of Supply and some investors to find out the reasons for higher prices for poultry and feed than necessary, despite the release of a large amount of feed more than what the market requires, stressing that the Consumer Protection Agency and regulators will monitor the markets.

Al-Qasir, the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, stressed that there is an exaggerated increase in the price of chickens and eggs, adding that those who are not committed to being content with a reasonable amount of profit will get feed for other investors. .
