A virtual meeting of Arab interior ministers to discuss security developments

Today, Thursday, the Arab Interior Ministers held the sessions of the thirty-eighth session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers by video call.

The Saudi delegation to the meeting was chaired by Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Honorary President of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud delivered a speech at the beginning of the meeting in which he said: “What has been achieved and what is successful for our security institutions in addressing the global and local challenges and changes related to our Arab security has helped strengthen the complementary relationship between security services and citizens, and raising awareness and understanding of the role of security services in their life and stability, and the importance of working with them to make that role a duty-imposed success, we look forward to expanding this role to improve the relationship between citizens and the security services that work for their security and stability.

He stressed that “the complementary relationships between security institutions in Arab countries through the Council of Arab Interior Ministers throughout its history have helped develop Arab plans and strategies that include crime prevention, drug control, counter-terrorism, traffic safety and financial control in addition to civil protection.” and to raise awareness. “The wish”, which indicates that these “achievements are valued at the official and popular level”.

He added: “I am confident that by working together we can – God willing – meet any challenge that disrupts safety and security.”

At the end of his speech, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud thanked the security sectors in all Arab countries for the outstanding efforts they had made during the corona pandemic, and also thanked the Secretary General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers and the staff member of the Secretariat and all of its offices for the continuation of their tasks in meetings and conferences despite the causes caused by the corona pandemic.

Afterwards, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Abul-Gheit, gave a speech in which he praised the efforts of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers to improve the security march and to combat crime in Arab countries.

Stressing that the threat of terrorism still exceeds the challenges facing the Arab region, he noted that addressing security threats threatening the majority of Arab countries exceeds the priorities of Arab national action.

He noted that “the consolidation of what has been achieved in the face of the criminal ISIS organization requires increased security surveillance and continued cooperation between the Arab authorities active in the field of information and security information.”

Subsequently, the Secretary General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, Dr. Muhammad bin Ali Koman, a speech in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation to Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud, Interior Minister and Honorary Chairman of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, and to the ministers participating in the conference for their continued support and strengthening of the work of the Council of his march.

Subsequently, the Iraqi Interior Minister, Lieutenant General Othman Ali Al-Ghanmi, took over the presidency of the thirty-eighth session of the Council from the Sudanese Interior Minister, Lieutenant General Ezzeddin Sheikh Ali, the first human rights police. It then approved the work program and agenda for the new Council meeting.
