Bethesda Delays Elder Scrolls: Blade’s Nintendo Switch Port to 2020
Bethesda announced today that The Elder Scrolls: Blades will not be available on Nintendo Switch before “early 2020”. The announcement was made in a blog post for the next update of the free-to-play title, which will be released in early December. The so-called 1.5 update will change the loot system and improve player-versus-player gameplay.
“We know how eager our players are to immerse themselves in blades on the Nintendo Switch, and we’ve worked hard to make that happen,” wrote Bethesda in today’s post. “Unfortunately, despite all the other changes to blades, we had to postpone the release of our switch until early 2020. We can not wait to get started on your Blades on the Switch quest, and we’re confident this extra time will allow us to deliver the polished gameplay our fans deserve. We thank you very much for your patience! “
Blades were launched on iOS and Android devices earlier this year after the launch window for 2018 was moved. Update 1.5 promises to remove one of the game’s most controversial features, the so-called “chest-timers”, where players had to wait for hours for prey, unless they stole real money for gems.
“We’ve heard your feedback and with Update 1.5 we’re making some big changes to our loot system, including one of the most requested updates,” Bethesda wrote in today’s release. “From the update, your chests will open immediately. You do not have to wait any longer to see what’s inside! “
Bethesda also said that the highly anticipated Arena Mode, which allows players to compete online in stand-alone matches, is also in sight. The new mode will be available at level five and enable cross-platform gaming between mobile devices and the Nintendo Switch.
